It was a privilege to be with Lily on her first flight ever (she did great!) from Newark to San Francisco along with @chelseygrosso and Lyn Loeb. And our visit here is off to a classic start having spent the day in Sausalito and at the Golden Gate Bridge. #opalove#luvulily#goldengate
23 JANUARY 2020 -Universal Tarot Message For The Day
Good morning sunshine ☀️ The day brings for you messages that ask you to exercise your power of creation. Whether it is creating a little story from your imagination or creating a cosmos, each of us have the ability to do both.
Today you stand at the golden gate , exactly where you need to be . You don’t know which way are things going to pan out for you, your foresight into the future is a blur. With all your anxiousness and fears the universe is here to tell you once again you are exactly where you need to be - at the golden gate and those doors open when you start marching towards it. There is no chance of peeking through the keyhole , walk forward and it’s all yours.
If your choice of life is to move forward then lead with trust, trust in yourself that you will make the right decision at the right time, trust in the divinity, trust the universal timing... TRUST.
Decided to enter the #forthebayffa editing competition, which is an awesome exercise in editing someone else’s photos! This is actually an image taken by @andrewoptics. He teamed up with @paulclark and some sponsors (@artofvisuals, @pelican, @slikusa, and @wandrd) to hose this photo editing contest. SWIPE RIGHT TO SEE THE ORIGINAL! What do you think?
We've got one month to go before the day of the tournament, so take a moment to meet our next tournament director! Introducing one of our Executive Directors, Kathryn Li of UC Berkeley!
“Hi, I’m Kathryn and I grew up in Palo Alto, CA. I’m currently a senior at Berkeley studying Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Data Science. After graduating, I plan on going to medical school and hopefully becoming an academic physician. I’ve been involved with GGSO for all four years in college, volunteering at the first tournament in 2017 and being on the executive board for the past three years."
Tell us about your favorite Science Olympiad memory.
"I don’t have a specific favorite memory, but my favorite moments as a SciOly competitor were the competitions. I really loved coming together as a team, the general hustle and bustle of competition day, and cheering on my teammates. As I’ve transitioned into working on the other side of the tournament, I’ve come to realize how special these moments are."
How has the realm of STEM education influenced your educational and career pursuits?
"SciOly catalyzed love for science and inquiry and solidified my interest in medicine. Moreover, working on STEM educational initiatives as part of GGSO has also inspired me to pursue a more academic medical career."
Anything else you might like to add?
“GGSO and Science Olympiad have been such an important and influential part of the last third of my life. So, I just wanted to give a shout out to everyone I’ve met and worked with in the community, especially my former team members and everyone on GGSO!"
California and Washington state are checked off my 50 state bucket list! When I first came on the young professionals “scene,” these two ladies were right by my side.
I didn’t see them enough in Atlanta before they left so I made it a point to come visit when I had the opportunity.
SN: I’m a very frugal traveler. A $96 round trip flight from got me from Atlanta to San Francisco, and a $110 RT flight got me to Seattle from San Fran.
I have 24 states to go and 10 more states that I plan to visit in 2020!

Which photo do you prefer? 1 or 2?
I've got to say, you all surprised me when I put these in my stories last week! My favorite is definitely Photo 2, but the majority of you (63%) picked Photo 1. It's funny to me, because it's the shot that was edited hastily on my iPhone using @googlesnapseed, while the second version is the one using @photoshop (bridge is enhanced, it's crisper, cars/roping edited out, etc.).
As much as it surprised me, I guess it's also kind of refreshing! Because this means that people don't always want the overproduced and curated version of something, and sometimes it's okay to keep it simple.
📍 Taken at Battery Godfrey's Golden Gate Overlook.
A windy day with the Golden Gate in the background. For those who do not know it, it is a suspension bridge located in the United States, California, that connects the San Francisco peninsula to the north with the south of Marin County, near Sausalito. Golden Gate is also the name of the strait on which the bridge is built, and receives its name from the Strait in Constantinople, also called the Golden Gate, as it communicated Europe with Asia.
