Today, we bear witness of the injustice towards the oppressed muslim populations in Bosnia and elsewere - Ughurs in Eastern Turkestan (illegally annexed by China), Rohingyas in Mynamar, Palestinans and others. Today, we bear witness of the daily killing of innocent human beings in plain sight of the international community and the proud "free world" leaders, for no reason but being Allah's worshippers.
Today, we live in an era where the value of a human life is subject to speculation. Muslim populations are being oppressed and exterminated, without a single voice to shout that their "lives matter" as well. We live in an era where conventionally there is a difference as regards color, religion, ethnicity, social class and more.
This is a reality nobody can deny and it is worsening amid rising nationalism in different parts of the world, and the only way to regain the right track is to rebuild a global system around the fact that all people are created equal and must be treated with dignity and respect, and should be the foundation of our communities, politics, economy and social justice systems.

A simple reminder. I have been hard on myself this past week and I’ve had to remind myself to be grounded in love and compassion, to stay with joy and to smile more often. ❤️ I hope your week has been going well, my friends. Lots of love to you.
There are a lot of complicated, nuanced & high-level stuff we can talk about & do for our gut health & digestion & I certainly bring a broad spectrum into my practice, when warranted. But, time & time again I see with my clients, yes even the ones who are “doing it all” & have “tried everything”, that the foundations get tossed aside, the most simple actions get forgotten & overlooked &, for many, they feel the next logical answer is to double down on fixing & go down the rabbit holes of food sensitivity testing, stool testing, supplements & elimination diets.
All of those have their place, but I REFUSE to start there with anyone.
Newsflash: if you are stressed out at meal time, your digestion will suck & your gut will be pissed.
If you aren’t eating each meal with gratitude & loving compassion for your body, it will respond as such.
If you aren’t chewing your food, enjoy taking that HCL supplement & the digestive enzymes, it’ll never be enough.
If you believe that EVERY single food you eat is making you sick, you can bet that it most certainly will be.
If you refuse to stay connected, aware, & conscious - any actual information or data available for you to learn from will be impossible to collect & you can forget any chance at trusting your body, your intuition & your inner wisdom.
Don’t forget the FREE stuff. Don’t overlook the simple things. If you are struggling with a gut flare up, if your digestion has been worse than ever, before you strip your diet of any food that brings joy, rather than swallowing supplements by the fistful & instead of diving into all the testing, first check in with my simple meal time awareness method the 4 C’s of Happier Digestion!
Will these alone be the answer for some folks, yes, I have seen it time & time again. Will it be enough for everyone, no, definitely not – but it’s a really great starting point for knowing where to go next & at the least moving with radical clarity & loving kindness.
Avoid guzzling water at meal time.
Set your fork down in between bites.
Eat balanced meals.

I had a conversation with my partner not long ago where I was saying how I felt really overwhelmed and had so much to do. This was shortly after my job at the gallery ended and I think I was in panic mode trying to get everything done at once with my business. I wanted to know I’d be okay once that wage stopped (to be honest I’m still a bit in panic mode). Anyway...he said ‘the only time constraints you have are the ones you’re putting on yourself, you have all the time to do these things’. I realised that perhaps I was being a little unkind to myself and causing myself more stress than was needed. I want things to get done but that shouldn’t be at the detriment of my own peace. So I’m tryyyying to get better at slowing down and allowing myself to not get everything done at once. If it can wait, it will wait and hopefully I won’t feel as frazzled!
Here's the trick about emotions: they need to be felt. Not judged, not explained, and definitely not repressed.
And if you don't know how to do this, don't worry. We never learned that in school. The society we grew up in still sees negative emotions as something to be avoided, or, in the best case, covered with some instant gratification - e.g. food, a glass of wine or an impulsive shopping spree.
Each one of us has to unlearn the way we have been thought to deal with emotions and to see which one is the main emotions we are running from. Then the work continues with us identifying what is our go-to activity when we feel that intense emotion. For me it's mindless social media scrolling to run away from anxiety, and for you that may look different.
Notice when the emotion arises.
Notice your automatic tendency.
Resist the urge to engage in that tendency.
Sit with the discomfort. Feel it fully. Find activities that help you release it (for example, for anger, scream into a pillow or go for a run)
Them check with yourself - how are you feeling? Did the strong feeling decrease in intensity?
And while observing it, know that you are not the emotion. You are not anxious, you feel anxiety so you can create space between you and the emotion.
And in that space, you have the choice to do things differently.
Leave “DOWN” if you are completely down with whats told.🙌🏻
