What's ONE THING you could do today to make your life better?
I've been seeing a lot of posts with a similar theme. "January 1, I'm going to start exercising" "New year, new me."
"After the holidays I'll go back on my diet"
But ARE YOU?
Why not start right now? Seriously, if something is that important, why can it be put off?
This is your LIFE. Your HEALTH.
Don't wait for 2020 to start doing what you need to do.
I'd love to hear what you can do today to start reaching your goals ✨
A lot of changes at once can feel very scary and overwhelming. We may feel like drawing back or resisting what is going on. This can lead to emotional and mental distress.
As scary as it can be, remember that personal growth and transformation lie on the other end of change. It may feel uncomfortable but keep reminding yourself that you’re on your way to a evolved and more resilient you. Welcome change in with open arms and you’ll see how transformative it can be for you ✨

It’s the season of sickness people! 🤒 TMI but I just spent the last few days either laying in bed or running to the bathroom due to a stomach bug 😂 & now that it’s finally gone 🙌🏻 I want to share 3 tips that can help you recover faster if you become sick! 🤧
1️⃣ FLUIDS!! 💦 This is so hard to do when you’re sick, especially if you have a sore throat, you’re having the runs 💩 or throwing up 🤮 but it’s SO important to drink your water during this time because it’s easy AF to become dehydrated. So drink up & keep your body adequately hydrated so all of your little cells can work hard & you can recover! 💧
2️⃣ REST. I know this is hard if you like to keep busy, you have a job, or you’re a gym rat 💪🏻 but if you seriously feel like 💩 stay home!! You don’t want to get anyone else sick & your body is literally telling you it needs a break! Rest = recovery 👍🏻
3️⃣ NUTRITION. If you don’t feel like eating, then don’t eat! However, if you have an appetite, eat light meals such as soup (like the phó in this picture for instance 🤤). Soup is great because you can fit so many nutrient filled veggies in it! 🥦🥕🥔 If your have nausea or diarrhea, I typically find that crackers & toast help to calm my stomach a bit. 🍞 As for supplements, current research hasn’t found too much evidence for vitamin C, however there is research showing that zinc may be helpful with preventing the common cold, so that may be worth a shot!
Do you have any cold/sickness remedies that you SWEAR by? Comment below!
" #Hygge " - the Danish obsession about getting cosy! #Throwback to last weekend's Winter Beauty & Wellness with Tea Ceremony event 🍵🧘♂️🍵 with the lovely @lolamailove.
There's definitely something to it.. when the #cold , #dark , #damp (in Scotland) weather draws near.. 🌨️⛄☔ We can feel depleted and exhausted as we get caught up in the chaos of the Christmas holidays. "I need to buy this/that" .. Christmas parties galore.. Maybe we give in to the excesses of eating too much❓🍔🍖🍰🍦🍩🍗 Drinking too much❓🍷 Consuming 'junk' both physically and even MENTALLY❓ Our body can handle a lot of abuse but can this REALLY be 'made-up' ❓❓
Pulling ourselves in so many directions is not only stressful and exhausting but can actually be the precursor to developing illnesses & diseases in the not too distant future. You don't know if that extra piece of shortbread, mince pie, or Christmas pudding is going to out you over the edge..
While it can be sooo tempting to turn a blind eye and indulge, every little decision you make DOES make a difference in who you are BECOMING 1, 5, 10 years from now...

➡️ QUESTION : What's the most important change YOU'D love to make in 2020⁉️
Scale exercise difficulty so its right for YOU. Get better results 💪
You want great results from your training. Of course you do. So you jump straight to performing ‘advanced’ moves because they will produce better results. Right?
Let’s use the leg raise as an example.
Performed like the first video (I see this every day), they achieve nothing. Zero stability through the shoulders, excessive momentum and next to no tension on the target musculature.
The same can be said for sloppy push ups, pull ups, squats, deadlifts, you name it (and did I mention, dangerous!?)
To get great results, you must achieve a TRAINING EFFECT.
To achieve a training effect,
you must perform exercises with pristine form that challenge you APPROPRIATELY (for the set / rep scheme and time under tension you are aiming for)
So ignore what everyone else is doing and scale exercises so they are right for you.
There is no shame in this. It’s called TRAINING SMART. Its going to be so much more rewarding and motivating when you do. And you’ll see far better results in the long run.
FYI - none of these exercises are beginner level. Even the bent knee raise is tough and I use it for higher rep schemes myself. I just used this exercise for this post as it’s a good visual 😊
Any Q’s about this, please fire away. Thanks for watching 🙏

I spent several years of my life trying to lose weight. Or at least that's what I called it. Yet, I knew that if I were to be real with myself, I wasn't really putting in that much effort. I would start a so-called "diet" that would maybe last for about a week and then I would fall off. That happened over and over again for some time. So, my weight pretty much stayed the same. Then one day I started thinking about my fitness and my attempts to lose weight, and I thought, "How long have I been trying to lose weight?" Then when I came to the realization that I have been so-called "trying" for 8-9 years, I got angry with myself. And that anger really put fire up underneath my feet. I was officially fed up with myself. The following three months after that, I was down 30 pounds just like that. I went in overdrive on drinking as much water as possible, cutting back on my calories, and making sure that I walked and jogged every single day and the fat just fell off. I realized that only in my anger towards myself and all of my excuses, is what got me to the point of change. I had to get mad with myself for the results that I not only wanted, but needed.
Ask yourself now, why do you work out? What is the real reason you show up day in, day out? Is it because you enjoy it? Is it because your body feels good when you do? Or is it because you feel pressure to and guilty when you don’t? Is it because others make you feel you should or you want to look like others?
Thought patterns are hard to kick. What’s more, a lot people are reluctant to change their mindset simply because, often subconsciously, they believe that giving themselves a hard time about their bodies is the only way they’ll stay motivated to do what takes to get fitter, healthier and/or slimmer.
You might be able to shame yourself into a workout or two that way. But, in the long run, that negative self-talk is highly demotivating and usually perpetuates a cycle of lethargy and comfort eating.
You might be able to shame yourself into a workout or two that way. But, in the long run, that negative self-talk is highly demotivating and usually perpetuates a cycle of lethargy and comfort eating.
Working out and eating well because you love your body, and not because you hate it, may be more of a process than an immediate solution.
Celebrate the fact that your making your body healthy.
One of my good friends was just asking me about the Opti-Greens so I figured it was time for me to post about them again!
This is by far my favorite product that 1st Phorm produces because it’s the one that’s given me the most benefits. And it’s really one of the main reasons why I started repping 1st Phorm.
🥦 None of us get in enough vegetables in a day and they are one of the most important parts of our meal plans! Greens help fill in that gap where our diets are lacking. .
🥦 Our overall health starts in the gut. If you aren’t absorbing your food properly, you’re going to end up getting sick in some capacity. Opti-Greens 50 contain low temperature processed digestive enzymes to help break down our food so we can utilize it and get the proper nutrients we need.
🥦 Opti-Greens also contain curcumin, a well known anti-oxidant that can reduce joint pain and other inflammatory induced symptoms.
🥦 Plus, you’ll notice clearer skin and better hair/nail growth! .
Okay, I know that was a long lengthy description, but I wouldn’t recommend something that I didn’t truly believe in and notice results from using. I certainly don’t want to tell my family, friends, clients, and total strangers to use a product and have it be full of fillers, sawdust, and other junk....
Apparently the one thing greens don’t do is make me look less old, tired, and pale.....I guess that’s technically three things....

We are celebrating Barry’s birthday today 🎂 🎉 Therefore, today is also my planned relapse day for sugar 😂. In case you missed it, I’ve not had any sugar this month. 🥴.
I feel so much better not eating stuff like this but I love it so much 🤣. I am a person who truly enjoys almost all foods. I don’t like to feel deprived of anything. . ☝🏻☝🏻That’s me being 100% real and raw with you. So, if you try to have a conversation with me & I am just completely comatose, it’s because I’ve had a taste of the “good stuff” (processed sugar) 😂.
Beginning January I’ll removed sugar once again from my diet, but for now—I’m going to enjoy the holidays and all the treats that go along with it. .
I’m so thankful I’ve found the way to enjoy this stuff without gaining weight! How awesome is that?
Too often are we thrown into the gym without a proper warmup or without focus on proper mobility.
Before any session make sure you warm up.🔑🔑
Literally warm up. Raise your body temperature through movement. Whether that’s on a bike, a jog , dynamic stretches. Doesn’t matter. Just warm your body.
From there your focus should be on mobility before loading.
If you can’t do standard motions with proper form. Don’t add weight yet.
There are plenty of alternatives to building strength other then adding weight.
Progressively build yourself with a planned and recorded program.
Be STRATEGIC AND INTENTIONAL
change will come , energy will come. vitality is the goal.
Goodluck! Leave a comment or dm me for any questions ! I got you.

Literally cannot wait to go through my evening dental routine tonight... why!?! After a 5-year long search for small batch herbal mouthwash, we have discovered @herbandmyth 😍😍 I’ve been using a super expensive herbal rinse from my wonderful dentist, but really wanted to find a source as we love supporting fellow makers. Finding a rinse that was free of alcohol and xylitol was really really difficult. Xylitol is popular in natural dental products because studies show that can help attack bacteria in the mouth, however, many of us do not tolerate it well in its often over-processed form. This in combination with our beloved unsweetened toothpastes from @buttermeuporganics it the dynamic duo we’ve been dreaming of. Dental care is critical to your overall health. You can start here for a simple beginning to a full body reset! .

The hardest lesson I have learned this year is never stop working to improve your happiness.
Everything happens for a reason. That reason causes change. Sometimes the change hurts. Sometimes the change is hard. But in the end its all for the best. .

Today I’m at one of the most beautiful places in the world, Ojo De Agua. It’s a natural pool with volcanic origin water-centered around plants and wildlife. Native artisans sell jewelry by the natural volcanic pool. There’s a man that sells fresh coconuts and a woman that sells necklaces made out of barks, leaves, and roots, using elements to create jewelry from the earth.
As I look around this serene volcanic pool in Ometepe, Nicaragua, I suddenly notice something. My friend and I are the only black people here. There are solely white travelers, along with the native people. My friend and I are the only black people in the village.
In all honesty, every time that I travel to a different country, I prepare myself to be one of the only few black people. However, it is still so important for black people to travel more, especially Black Americans. Taking a break from an environment that has never had your best interest is so crucial for our wellness and health. Whether it’s a week, three months, or even moving to a foreign country, getting outside of our comfort zones is vital for growth collectively and individually.
It’s also essential for black people to travel because it can change your entire perspective of the world. Traveling opens your mind to understanding that there are so many different ways to live, and we have been conditioned to follow one direction. Traveling allows significant transformation— One of the most excellent methods for transformation is by changing environments. It also opens your heart and gives you a deeper understanding of the meaning of this life. When we broaden our physical world, we open our mental, spiritual, and emotional being.
An entire world awaits our presence. Our ancestors were not only in Africa— They were everywhere, from Asia to South America. Black people swam in all of the majestic deep blue oceans, and we gave the world culture, science, philosophy, and religion. Traveling is our birthright, and black people should explore the world.
Have you ever thought about living in a different country? If so, what country and why? Tell me in the comments below.❤️👇🏿

I am so grateful to be here alive. Yesterday morning I was involved in a serious car accident and had to get thirteen stitches and three staples to the head. At times I take life for granted... worry about little things that in fact really don’t matter. We are so fragile... one second we are here, and the next gone. We don’t know when it’s going to be our last. Appreciate more. Love more. Be more. Each day, is a new day.... How can we live our fullest? Be our fullest? Love our fullest?

Potato Nachos 😍 Meals like this on repeat or really anything with potatoes! This recipe is for anyone who loves comfort food and toppings. As always this recipe is super simple and the cashew “cheese sauce” is the perfect finishing touch to any dish.
Slice potatoes thin and bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes, depending on how crispy you like them. No oil needed!
Toppings: romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, garlic, avocado (guacamole), roasted chickpeas, and creamy cashew sauce (1/2 cup of raw cashews, 1/4 cup of water, juice of one 1 lemon, 1 garlic clove. Blend on high till creamy). ENJOY 🧡 #mindfuleeeeeats#themindfulblonde
