Winter 2020 produced yet another wild day in the ocean today. @ben_player paddled into one of the craziest waves I’ve ever seen around here. He summed it all up in his reply to me when he saw the sequence:
“Probably the heaviest beach break tube I’ve ever had. Looks like Waimea shorebreak crossed with Teahupoo crossed with Supers. I got so pumped on that thing, thought I was going to break my back. I only caught one more set wave after that and the same thing happened so I gave up. Both times I I thought I was in the perfect spot and both times I free-fell and got smashed. Was so thick out there. I actually coughed up sand after that wave. It’s like a once in a lifetime pit”.
