First bull away in 2020, a 14 month old picked from our autumn born group of 14 bulls. We won’t be taking any bulls over to the sale in Hereford in April this year so all bulls will be for sale privately on farm or at the February & April Sales in Dungannon. We have 2 for The February Sale on Tuesday 11th, lots 5 & 9 out of 2 of our best calved heifers, homozygous polled and with excellent figures. Photos to follow🐮 #bullsforsale#herefords
RAIN COMES DOWN - PRICES GO UP: The eager anticipation of rain was enough to drive cattle markets substantially higher to start 2020.
EYCI cattle rose a robust $38.5c (8%) to close at $515.5c. The recent wide gap between light and heavier young cattle somewhat narrowed this week as opportune buyers saw value in a lower $ per head on light cattle. In general this saw lighter end between $2.20-$2.50 with the heavier end $2.80 and above. The move higher in young cattle was in stark contrast to the closing weeks of 2019 when the demand for young cattle feel sharply. Hopefully 2020 remains vastly different to its predecessor!
Cows too surged 8.5% higher with the Eastern States Indicator up to $206c. Still more intense competition exists for better quality, heavier cows.
With robust global demand enduring and the prospect of a return to favourable conditions the next month should see the long awaited competition between Restockers & Processors.
When the herd starts the rebuild phase ensure sufficient thought is given to genetics & the impact they will have on the future of your herd. Visit www.3rbeef.com.au/breeding-philosophy (link in bio) to see our breeding focus.
May the rain fill all our gauges!

The biggest risk to a farmers health at the moment would easily be not being able to resist the urge to play in a storm😆🌂⚡️ 70mls in 1 hour you bloody ripper!!!! 😁 the largest single fall for us in almost four years and 1/5 of last years total rainfall. (Sorry to those who haven’t had their share yet) #rainatlast
3R Donor - 4011B produces the RECORD BREAKING marbling bull in @holdenherefords History!
Outstanding yearling performance (658kg, EMA Ratio 105, Marbling Ratio 192) matches with robust EPD’s.
This powerful bull sells in March. Don’t miss the bull to take your herd in line with consumer demand trends.
Here is AHXR 2E in his working clothes. He recently came home from his summer breeding pasture and he is now trying to find his place in the herd bull pen. We try to pull our bulls after 42 days of breeding, but this guy stayed out longer this year.
