Work hard, play hard seems to be my motto these days. My career often doesn’t feel like a “job” since I love what I do so much but make no mistake, its easy to get tangled in doing too much and feeling overextended. Sound familiar? That’s one of the reasons I’ve had to force myself to soften, unwind, say yes to new adventures. This summer, we took our three girls to Spain and Italy and it was filled with every amazing and wonderful thing imaginable - adventure, relaxation, laughter, a lot of great stories and spending quality time together. It’s often hard to come back to the realities that await us- schedules, lists, routines, the very habitual activities we were happy to escape for a short while. But one thing I’ve learned is that these are also the very things that make vacations so enjoyable to begin with. The desire and need to break away from the ordinary makes us appreciate the daily ups and downs for what they really are- our wonderful, familiar life. Monday, you’ll find me with a cup of coffee in hand, my pen and paper (and tape measure!) and renewed gratitude for everything I’ve worked so hard for. For now, I’m enjoying one more glass of rosé, a fire with my littles and some much needed time with my girlfriends. I love you summer!

The entrance to #huntersmoonhomestead is so bright and inviting. It’s a great spot for morning coffee or an afternoon nap.
After so many stressful months we’re finally catching a quiet break this weekend and can’t wait to spend an evening snuggled up on the couch at #themooncabin catching some (cough... binging all...cough) of #StrangerThings Season 3. 📺💑.
It’s so fun to incorporate unexpected design elements and a faux Boxwood hedge as a headboard is certainly unexpected! It’s playful, whimsical, and ties the green hues from the painting into the room. The side table and dramatic black and white flooring make this space feel modern and feminine. More of my favorite one-of-a-kind headboards on the blog! #linkinbio
What’s the saying... done is better than perfect? It’s so true for many home renovations including #ProjectTradDining . This room is far from finished but it’s sooooo pretty that I had to share it with you.
Sometimes you have to go your own way. When we bought this house, we fell in love with the moulding and traditional character. But over time we realized those details weren’t quite perfect for us (swipe to see the Before). We wanted Moulding with a capital M: tall baseboards, substantial panel moulding, architraves over the doors and windows. We partnered once again with our friends from @officialmetrie and got just the look we were hoping for. And it might seem like a small and unnecessary change to make, but I say don’t force yourself to live with someone else’s design decisions. Be brave and bold and embrace the things that make your heart sing. For those are the things that make a home feel like yours.
This room, once finished, will be everything opposite to what I see in my Instagram feed. It’s not farmhouse nor boho or California cool. It’s not minimal or all white and won’t have mid century mod furnishings. It will be formal and traditional with pocket doors, a 6” crown, and 15 yr old chairs I had recovered instead of tossing into a landfill and replaced with something trendier. And it will have wall to wall floral wallpaper that might make you think you stepped into Grandma’s house.
But isn’t that the wonderful thing about design? You can still love all those pretty pictures and yet go your own way. #RRColonialCharm#traditionaldiningroom#wallmoulding#wainscot#floralwallpaper#tradhome#currenthomeview#mytradhome#hhfaveroom#SMmakelifebeautiful#styleathome#ggathome#theeverygirlathome#bhghome#projecttraddining

Totally digging the smell of my Fir candles right now...and if pictures of pretty rooms came with a “scratch and sniff” option, I think that’s what this room would smell like...❤️
