Have you hiked out to Eagle Rock yet? Located off the Pacific Crest Trail in beautiful Warner Springs California, Eagle Rock has to be my favorite local San Diego hike. When I first started hiking many years back, it was my younger son who introduced me to this trail, and now, whenever anybody asks me to take them hiking, this is always my first choice. As in most areas out in the back country of San Diego County, you need to be prepared for heat, and you need to be sure to bring lots of water. Eagle Rock ❤

Trying to get lost for the day? From Aptos to Capitola, and all the way to West Side Santa Cruz there are hiking spots that you can explore and feel the magic of our town's beautiful nature.
Have you adventured through the backyard of @ucsc's hiking trails? They are something that shouldn't be missed on a beautiful, sunny day!

I don’t know about you but I do get a bit competitive when hiking. It motivates me when I pass people in front of me and I try to not let anyone behind me pass me. It just gives me a boost!
Usually I don’t give it a lot of thought but on my last hike, I didn’t have any other choice than to let the group of people behind me catch up with me. This was one of my toughest hikes ever.
We’ve had a lot of snow this year so this hike, Trolltunga, usually don’t have a lot of snow late May/beginning of June but this year it was about 4 meters of snow at this time. And with the increasing temperatures that time a year, the snow is melting and it makes it hard to walk on top of the snow passed noon.
Usually this is a 6 hour hike for me but this year it took me 9... After a third of the distance I had no other choice than to let the group behind me catch up with me so we could take turns on who to go first and make the path for the rest of the group.
It’s weird how the mind works. That I didn’t even consider teaming up with them until the minute I realized I literally wouldn’t make it by myself. Cause my original thought was that I wanted to be the first to reach Trolltunga.
