With unique attractions such as “oil-shale” mining with real excavators, a dirt buggy trail, a Traffic Campus with electric cars, and a zip line with a 600 m descent and speeds up to 80 km/h, Kiviõli Adventure Park is not your run of the mill amusement park.
A two-hour drive from Tallinn, it makes for a day trip the whole family will love! Adrenaline junkies will love the motorless Mountain Cars, which are pulled to the top of the mountain by ski lift, and depend only on gravity, a steering wheel, brakes, and the driver’s skill to navigate the trip down, and the four story Adventure Climbing Park with its Tarzan jump, free-fall jump, zip line. We saw quite a few people come down and say they didn’t dare climb up to the top level!
Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can take a tour among the islands of the man made pond in one of several 4-seat electric motor boats. Kids will love putting out a “fire” at the Fire Fighting Academy, the Crazy-Cart track, and the sprinkler lined Tube Track with escalator lift. For sports lovers there are two free-ride tracks (a learning track and a 1km long curvy track that starts at the top of the mountain), a Pumptrack that can be enjoyed with push bikes, bicycles, skateboards or inline skates, and a Motocross Center (not included in admission). There are quite a few interesting playgrounds and attractions suitable for even the youngest children to explore, and kids as young as 2 can operate the excavators with an adult.
We were able to try most of the main rides and attractions in about 5 hours; the Saturday we were there there were lines for every attraction, but nothing unreasonable.
There is a decent buffet-style cafe where we found quite a few vegetarian options. The park also offers additional paid services such as saunas, skiing lessons, and equipment rental.
