Repost @alex_elle just so well said!! Pretending is exhausting, it's also isolating... But sometimes it feels like the only option (it's not!)... When we're told every thought is creating our future reality and positivity and gratitude are necessary for living our 'best lives'... Where's the room for being honest about how we feel? Can we hold space for all of our emotions and all parts of ourselves and ask for what we need..?
In this we find acceptance.
You are not alone and you do not have to do it alone. ❤️

What an amazing weekend!! I wish I have some photos to share with you on our sustainable open house day but I don't have any yet. Will post when we have them. If you happen to be one of those who have visited us at our home, please share some pictures and tag us. ❤
It was such an amazing experience to share with over 140 people what sustainability is all about. It is not just about an energy efficient home, and it is not just about having a veggie garden. It is way more than that. It is a way of life, a way of life that focuses on these 7 key elements.
1. Remove toxic skincare and personal care products.
2. Remove toxic household products.
3. Minimise exposure to EMF radiation, dirty electricity and VOC off-gas.
4. Eating real food, organic and high nutrient and non-inflammatory food.
5. Detoxing - grounding, infrared sauna, detox bath, exercising.
6. Grow your own food, recycling, reduce waste, energy efficiency.
7. Emotional health - self love

• 1⁄8 teaspoon black pepper
• 2 tablespoons dry roasted almonds, chopped finely
For the salad
1. Peel the steamed sweet potato and mash it using a fork.
2. Add rosemary to the mashed potatoe and mix well. Using your hand, shape the mashed potatoes into small cubes.
3. Mix all the marination ingredients together and dip the sweet potato cubes in it till coated from all sides.
4. Meanwhile, dip the broccoli florets in water heated on a medium flame for about 10 minutes.
5. Combine the lettuce, bell peppers, steamed broccoli and marinated sweet potatoes in a mixing bowl.

Porn reshapes your brain.
It has a similar effect on the brain that junk food has on the body. And the science shows that with dopamine activation and opioid release, men who use porn are bonding with the porn.
Not only does it de-sensitise you to the point where you need increasingly intense and novel stimuli to get the same reaction as before, but triggers something called the "Coolidge effect" - a biological phenomenon in which a human may respond sexually to a NEW partner with greater arousal. .
So think about the effect of this on men watching porn for example: the male brain evolved in a context in which the sight of a naked or copulating woman was extremely rare, and typically arrived at arduously - thus making it a very exciting occurrence! The novelty effect of new partners did NOT, however, evolve in an environment in which hundreds of naked or copulating women emerged at a signal to make themselves visually available to men, until men were done having a wank at the sight of them. .
So can you imagine the problems they may have with virility, arousal, performance, (and their free will!) once they introduce this free, highly addictive stream of visual stimuli into their neurological environment?! .
School counsellors are seeing incredible amounts of younger and younger male teens who are suffering from porn addiction so severe that, by sixteen or seventeen, these addictions interfere with other aspects of their lives (school, sports, friendships and relationships). AND they are having serious problems with erectile dysfunction when they actually find themselves in an erotic situation with a real partner.
And can you imagine the impact this is having on young girls and women who are being expected to behave in the way that the women in porn do, and to accept this situation of porn addiction as normal? Or the gals who feel unattractive or as though they have failed when their male partner cannot remain erect with them because he has become so over-stimulated and desensitised by porn?!
Luckily there are dehabituation programs and supportive info on sites such as Reuniting.info that can help with people suffering from porn addiction.

Fibre is your friend.
It may sound a little strange but fibre is very underrated! Fibre is the indigestible part of plant foods. It is fantastic for stabilizing blood sugars and keeping us feeling full and satisfied between meals. It also works hard to keep your digestive system moving like clockwork, support optimum gut health, lower cholesterol and clear any excess hormones from the body.
Simple ways to include a bit more fibre in your daily diet:
* Half a plate of leafy greens or vegetables at two main meals a day (kale, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts or leek)
* One-quarter of a plate of starchy vegetables as part of a balanced meal (kumara, pumpkin, beetroot, yams, parsnip or carrot)
* 2 servings of your favourite seasonal fruit (berries, kiwi fruit, apples, pears)
* 1-2 tablespoons of nuts or seed (Chia seeds, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds or almonds)
* 1-2 teaspoons of psyllium husks in your morning smoothie
* Treat yourself to a bowl of warming gluten-free porridge for breakfast (Quinoa, brown rice, millet, buckwheat are gluten-free grains).
Happy 1st Birthday Asha! .

This week was a big week for mental health. We all got to see big flashing yellow signs everywhere of how everyone’s door is open for those who have mental health issues.
As lovely as it is to see people care about these issues for a day or two there are several problems I have with RUOK and suicide prevention day.
The first problem I have with both these days, is that for someone living with mental health issues, every time they go on social media and they see an RUOK post, their already compromised nervous system gets triggered. By this I mean the already sensitive system sees this as an alert, that I better check that I’m ok and if I’m not then why aren’t I and what should I be doing to fix myself.
The second problem I have with these days is, asking someone if they are ok, is such a direct, closed question. There two possible answers- yes and no- then what? A much better question would be How are you? Or even better how is your job/family/hobby? Questions like these show that you have built up some sort of knowledge about the person and care about the different aspects of their life.
The other issue I have with RUOK day is that it is everyone ‘opens their doors’ for one day. It doesn’t actually build a connection between people. Why would I go and talk to someone I’ve never had another in-depth conversation with at any other time in my life.
I think that’s what your tribe is for. I am blessed to have people that ask me about my life without judgement and that is what builds connection and trust.
Now I know not everyone is blessed with a tribe but by sharing our stories on a regular basis, we can find like minded people and build that connection.
I think it’s great to build awareness about mental health but rather than have big flashy days where people care for one day. How about we talk about our stories every day and let’s heal together.
And that’s… the tea. 🍵
Our Cacao Husk Tea is made from cacao shells, giving that signature hot chocolate taste without the need for cream or milk. It also has antioxidant properties that helps boost your immune system, especially during rainy days.

Sorghum: Here's another African Food that I can Pride my self about since it's heritage month not #mogodu . I feel sorry for tourist who are made to eat Mogodu and are taught that Mogodu is a South African Heritage food.
Sorghum is the fifth-most produced grain in the world, behind wheat, corn, rice, and barley. The grain is considered cheap and easy to grow, since it is drought-resistant, grows in dry climates, and requires less water than wheat. Sorghum's health benefits include more antioxidants than blueberries and pomegranate, high protein and fiber, and no gluten- which makes it a perfect dietary grain for those with celiac disease. Sorghum has high nutritional value, with high levels of unsaturated fats, protein, fiber, and minerals like phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and iron. Sorghum, an ancient (cereal) grain that's a staple crop throughout Africa, has long been considered a safe grain alternative for people with celiac disease and gluten insensitivity. The Ethiopian bread injera is made from sorghum, as are a variety of gluten-free beers. Recent research suggests that certain phytochemicals allow sorghum consumption to reduce the risk of colon and skin cancer more than other grains, and that other properties can promote cardiovascular health and lower cholesterol. #heritagemonth#sorghum#grains#glutenfree#celiac#gluten#southafrica#instatravel#travel#tourist#tourism#wellness#nutrition#nutritionfacts#eatwell#healthymeal#cleanse#holistichealth#herbs of life #fitness#gym#vitamins#health .
How someone treats you is a reflection of what is going on inside them.
This was a real eye opener for me when I fully understood this.
Don’t change to please someone else.
Stand in your true authenticity ❤️
Don’t take things personally as people will show up and act in accordance to who they are.
Be you and own who you are 🥰
Meal Prepping .
It doesn’t have to be all in matchy matchy containers and styled up with slices, dashes and sprinkles of this and that. .
I like prepping for 2 days at a time 1. Because I think it’s nicer a bit fresher and 2. Because I’m fussy and don’t like eating the same thing every day. 2 days at a time is perfect to keep me feeling organized and on top of things.
First 2 days this week is ✨falafel and pearl cous cous salad
✨berry chia over night oats ✨@ladylolas inspired choc coconut fudgey cookies .
Let me know if you would like to see any of the recipes in my upcoming blog ✌🏼

I just hung my clothes on my clothes line, in the sun, in the backyard of my new place. It was such a ridiculously joyful moment for me, I never thought laundry would give me such a glow😊. After living in apartments for the past 12 years, having a clothes line in the sun is an absolute luxury, having my own stretch of grass, a dishwasher, my own driveway and a garage. These things are currently bringing me an immense amount of joy, I can appreciate how much easier life is with them. It made me wonder what privileges and everyday experiences we all take for granted. I had tried in the old place to remind myself how lucky I was to pay such little rent for such a small space, how it was close to shops, public transport, how great the owner let me renovate and have a big veggie patch int car park. I had though resented the dirt carpark that meant the inside and outside of my car was filthy, the main road access that meant I would sometimes get stuck trying to leave my driveway or parked in by a truck doing a delivery, I was annoyed about not having a dishwasher, or a proper outdoor clothes line. Having more now has made me see that I should have probably just been grateful that I had food to eat that lead to dishes needing a wash, and many options for clothing to dirty in the first place, and a car to take my son and I to where we needed. I hope to hold on to this perspective and be grateful for all we have now
What do you take for granted?
Stuffed peppers // garlic, quinoa, herbs and spices 🌱 Peppers have a lot going for them. They're low in calories and are loaded with good nutrition. All varieties are excellent sources of vitamins A and C, potassium, folic acid, and fiber 🌿
