We're in the dog days of summer folks, it feels like it's about 104 degrees 🥵, and I'm here to talk about this gorgeous roast leg of lamb! You're probably thinking "who is this crazy lady and why is she telling me to turn my oven on?!" and lemme tell you your feelings are 💯 valid. But I promise I wouldn't subject you to additional heat if it wasn't completely worth it! I've been making @inagarten’s Lamb Provençal for years and I am consistently surprised by its deliciousness. Familiar flavors of honey, dijon, balsamic vinegar and rosemary come together and bring out the best in one of my favorite proteins. But the true stars and reason you should be making this now instead of in February are the 3 pounds of beautiful ripe tomatoes that caramelize with sweet onions, thyme, and lamb drippings, creating the most perfect pan sauce. Just be sure to crank that AC and serve this with plenty of crusty bread to soak up that goodness!

I enjoyed my first fast so much I just finished another one, this time 4 days.
Here’s a list of the top questions I get asked...
Is it hard?
I find it easy, maybe years of intermittent fasting has prepared me for it. It’s not so much physically challenging as it is mentally.
I found that the hardest part was between hours 16 and 28. One big challenge I experienced was the sleep. I got very low quality sleep on the third and fourth night.
Did you feel sluggish?
Once I started to produce keytones (day two) I got a sensation of clarity along with energy. My day three workout was definitely a challenge but I powered through. Exercise can intensify the benefits of a fast when done correctly.
Do you only drink water?
I have black coffee, tea, warm saltwater (in the morning) and magnesium supplements before bed.

How do you come off it?
This is the time to fill your body with healthy building blocks. The refeed is equally as important as the fast. I start with bone broth then slowly introduce organic natural foods. I’ve read that depending on how long your fast was determines how long you should take to come off it( half the amount of days)
Will I lose muscle mass?
Personally this is isn’t my top concern, I know as soon as I’m done with the fast I’ll be consuming proteins and hitting up the gym making up fo any small short term losses.
I plan on fasting regularly to keep my body switching in and out of ketosis. I’ll be listening to all the latest scientific research on the subject to ensure I’m doing it the healthiest way possible.

There are many superstitions and old wives tales when it come to postpartum diet in the Vietnamese culture, one being no beef for at least 4 weeks 😣. As soon as I hit the 4 weeks mark I ate beef to my belly’s content; steak, bun bo hue, and now pho. Nothing fancy this time, #PhoTaiBoVien is all I want 😋.
