When you’re planning out your workouts what do you take into consideration?
Make sure that your squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling – all the basics I’m sure.
Do you consider focused work for improving your scapula function? No? Not sure what a scapula is? .
Your scapula is commonly known as your shoulder blade and it makes up the socket of the ball and socket joint of your shoulder.
It is attached to your body by 18 different muscles and learning how to properly control and stabilize it is key to long term shoulder health.
A great way to begin building scapular stability and control is by adding scapular push-ups into your routine.
Scapular push ups work to strengthen and build control of the serratus anterior muscle. This muscle serves to pull the scapula tight against the ribs and significantly contributes to scapular stability.
The body functions on the principle of proximal stability allows for distal mobility. When the scapula is stable, then the glenohumeral joint (the shoulder) is free to move through it’s compete range of motion.
Lack of scapular stability and control is one of the key causes of shoulder pain and injury.
Adding scapular push ups to your dynamic warm up on your upper body days will rapidly improve stability, keeping your shoulders healthy and injury free.
As part of a dynamic warm up work 10-12 reps. Or integrate them into a your workout as an isolated movement, part of a super set or within a circuit.

This competition for architecture students and young architects Hyde Park Music Pavilion (HPMP) London consists of proposing a cultural space associated with music, which provides information on past and future concerts in Hyde Park. A cultural space where nature and the world of music will play a key role.
"Melody." The proposal is based on the concept of embodying music. An empty box represents the space capable of being modelled by musical melodies in time.
Materialized by a malleable separator that defines the uses, leaving the recreational activities on the surface, to take a break in contact with nature or listen to a small recital. In counterpoint underneath are the contemplative activities, offering a space of retraction for individual performances. Music and architecture complement each other by stimulating and generating emotions.
