My heart and mind is beyond full after this weekend in Qassiarsuk, Tasiusaq, Inneruulalik and where Tupaarnaq lives. The nature in South Greenland is so unbelievably beautiful that sometimes your eyes can’t comprehend what it is you are looking at. My weekend felt like a million years because we did so many things and hung out with such wonderful people. Our host in Tasiusaq is technically my student, but she studies from home, because she runs both a sheep farm and a hostel and guesthouse. She was so welcoming and motherly, that my heart is full. It’s rare that you meet such wonderful people who can give you so much in such a short time and you leave feeling so happy. This picture was taken in Qassiarsuk, waiting for our boat back to Qaqortoq. I hope I get to visit them again at some point!
Population growth and unprecedented drought, perhaps exacerbated by climate change, are causing one of the most shocking urban water crises, while South African leaders warn that residents are increasingly likely to face the “Day Zero". Information about water quality, flow rates, age and much more is published live on www.polewater.com
That day wind was blowing at 60km/hr and we were barely able to stand still on the beach. We have been delighted to see those ice blocks that were shining on volcanic sand like gems... the contrast and the scenery was incredibly fascinating. 🇮🇸
GLACIAL ERRATICS are rocks, varying in size from small pebbles to massive boulders, which have been transported by glaciers, ice sheets or icebergs many tens of kilometres (and often in the case of ice rafting by icebergs, many hundreds of kilometres) before being deposited when the ice melts far from where the rock originally cropped out.
These photos are from western Tasmania and the brass plaques are self explanatory. #erratics#glaciers#icebergs#boulders#icerafting#Tasmania#geology
Zhdun-uluu got super excited seeing icebergs for the first time in his life. So excited he nearly fell into the glacial lake. Luckily it all ended well - and dry!
Also you might have noticed that Zhdun-uluu dressed up - #bowtieswag 😂
„Greenland makes you feel small“ - a phrase locals love to say and I can confirm. It’s one of those places that make you feel vulnerable , insignificant and detached from the rest of the world.. #Greenland#Scoresbysund#Arctic#Icebergs
Hi everyone, we visited Geysir today and I decided to try out the slo motion video feature on my phone and it turned out pretty darn cool. We have had an amazing day visiting Pingviller, Bruarfoss, Geysir and Gulfoss. Will post another pic later today, hoping you're all having a great Tuesday, cheers!
