Another Romanian landmark is The Peleş Castle and Pelişor, situated 1,5 km North-West from Sinaia.
Built by the King Carol I of Romania between 1873-1883, was used by the royal family as summer residence.
Unfortunately not for very long, since the monarchy was suddenly ended in Romania by the Communists in 1947.

After some more turbulent history, Peleş Castle belongs nowadays to the Romanian state and is opened for visitors.

"The Royal Castle amongst other monuments, surrounded by extremely pretty landscape with gardens built on terraces, all at the edge of dense forests. The castle itself is very impressive through the riches it has accumulated: old and new canvases, old furniture, weapons, all sort of curios, everything placed with good taste." - excerpt from a letter of Kaiser Franz Joseph I

Construit în 4 ani pe vremea Împușcatului, avea ca scop atat unul militar dar si economic. Acum atrage oameni din întreaga lume.
