Our daughter got home last night after a month and counting in and out of the out of town hospital for unresolved issues, and thus I am so thankful to be surrounded by all of my children, many bonus children, and wonderful friends on my birthday today. Additionally, I am thankful for my mom, also known as Gigi, who not only gave me life and raised me, but has also tirelessly taken care of Madelynn during this time.

Joey, the owner, is a foodie perfectionist and everything he creates is fantastic. Sautéed shrimp, bacon and chives in a light cream sauce drizzled over roasted vegetables and white cheddar grits! Okay, I get it now. I see the infatuation with shrimp & grits, especially when it’s from @jonahsfish in @thomasvillega. Not being hyperbolic when I say this is one of the best things I’ve ever had and it’s serious comfort food! Also worth mentioning that the hush puppy peeking in the background was the best ever! But then again, being from LA, I’ve only had like a couple hush puppies in my life so what do I know? 🤷🏻♂️ #HungryInGA
One of the best brunch dishes I’ve had in a while; Two sunny-side eggs, gulf shrimp, local sausage from @bradleyscountrystore, cheddar grits, bacon, hash browns and a side of hollandaise sauce - this dish is aptly named “I am Hangry” which is how I felt this morning before having brunch at @backwoodscrossing, a literal farm-to-table restaurant, complete with a working farm on the property. 🐓🦃🥚🥬🥕 Such a great find in Tallahassee, FL. Also worth noting that they have a creative cocktail program for brunch, but I just usually stick to black coffee in the mornings. 🍳🥓🍤🧀
***not an ad, just a true and long story*** I used to order a Poké bowl through @ubereats about once a week, even though I was only a short walk away from @sweetfin! Now I’m willing to drive across the State line for it.
When you move to a small town in South Georgia and are in search of a Poké bowl, you probably won’t find it. A trip to the nearest @wholefoods (in the neighboring state) will also fall short. When I asked the seafood department at Whole Foods if they had sushi grade fish for Poké, the guy behind the counter was baffled and said, “Man, I don’t even know what that is!” Luckily, @cookingwithcocktailrings gave me a tip to check out @thefreshmarket - and yes, they had fresh sushi grade Ahi tuna! 🐟🙌🏼 I put it on ice and drove across the state boarder like I was smuggling precious cargo! The result was my own homemade poké bowl with creamy togarashi sauce (thank you again @cookingwithcocktailrings for the recipe from your blog), topped with avocado, seaweed salad, green onions, cucumbers, carrots, and crispy onions. It’s no @sweetfin, but still so good! 🐟🍚
