Finally uploaded my first IGTV video! 🥳
It’s a hotel/room tour.... I stayed @hotelindigo in Katong, Singapore 🇸🇬. I wanted to get a more local experience, away from the busy tourist areas, which is why I chose this hotel (but also because it’s super cute!). The rooms are like a piece of art, everything from the tiles to the walls to the historic touches are just so stunning and thought out. The restaurant, @babachews, had the best breakfast to start my day with 🥞🍳☕️. The only regret I have is not spending any time in their rooftop infinity pool. 🥺
Definitions | So, someone asked, what's this page About? (a capitalist, for sure)
So, a more literal-minded lament went, where are your so-called STORIES?
So bro, a self-appointing self-help guru wheedled, wat do u want dis pg 2 %achieve%??
You have to be SMART, pronounced a smarted man. Specific-Measurable-Achievable-Realistic-, and they recited faithfully breathlessly, - Time.
I don't know. I still refuse to know. I think while labels are helpful, words fix and freeze us into boxes.
You might as well ask: what is Singapore about? Where are the Lion's PORES? What does this island want to %achieve%??
Where I can avoid it, I have tried to shirk the loveless labour of labels, the calcified chain of cliché. Sometimes this makes marketing messy. Then again, love letters shouldn't be packed and sold so easily. Affection should be messy.
My name says: this island isn't just One Story. It isn't the monopoly of the Crying Man, the Englishman, the Touristman, or the Businessman (usually men).
And yet, though the pitchforks may disagree, it is not an oppressive wasteland either. We see what we seek. We find what we filter.
I contend: perpetual rage and despair are joyless, pointless. I prefer the defiant candle to the dimming dark.
And so, my land can be so lovely too. It has tenderness, and kindness. It has gentle, manja cats in secret crannies. Its peoples can be heroic, courageous, resourceful. I want to remind us of our softer selves.
Am I a middle ground? Only if I pretend at extremes, or relativity. At all times, I am none of those. I am all of those. Binaries are so banal.
How, and why? Because I am, like this nation, like all nations and peoples, complex, contradictory, complicated. We contain multitudes.
And so what is this page *about*? It is about the stories we tell ourselves. It is (or seeks to be) scalpel and singer, striving and still-learning.
It is about Singapore and Other Singapores, and non-Singapores. It is about love and un-love. It is about how love isn't easy, or expected. It is about words, and the experiences which escape words.
So you see, it isn't that I don't have an answer. Maybe I've been asked wrong questions.

Did my fibroids, cyst & polyps removal 2 weeks ago. Stamina hasn't been great since. But @deon.woo and i are heading to Hokkaido in 3 weeks for our hiking trip, to see autumn leaves and be close to nature!
So decided to start training for it today. A 2.5h trek to Mount Faber. Despite the hot weather, it is always such a joy to spend quality time being active in nature with my husband.

📍Marina Bay Sands, Singapore🇸🇬
🔸In May 2006, Las Vegas Sands won one out of two slots to be in Singapore’s integrated resorts. The initial investment commitment was S$3.85 billion. However, due to escalating costs of materials and labor shortage, Las Vegas Sands had to reprioritise their options and delayed other projects worldwide just to complete Marina Bay Sands.
