In the Zoroastrian religion , the respect of the Environment is of great importance.
The 4 elements - fire, water, earth, and air - are sacred, and ought not to be polluted by the disposal of the dead.
Cremation, for example, is believed to cause pollution to fire, air, and surface water, while burial causes pollution to the earth and ground water.
The Towers of Silence were then used to expose the deads to scavenging birds in order to not pollute the 4 elements.
Diseases that could have been spread at these times through air were eradicated by the enzymes of vultures' saliva.
Today, there are still devoted Zoroastrians. But the Towers of Silence are not used anymore.
What a strange feeling while walking inside one of this huge tower in Yazd.
I used to struggle explaining to people what « home » means to me. My parents split up when I was around two, meaning I had two « homes ». Then, for most of my childhood my mom moved almost every year. This made it hard to keep friends, put down roots and see my dad.
Before high school, I moved with my dad to Mississauga, Ontario from Quebec City. Life started to slow down and be a bit more « stable » at that point. Although my mom and the rest of my family were in a different province.
So what was « home »? I didn’t have a childhood home. Childhood friends. I was loved by my family but always in separate places. One house couldn’t be more « home » than the other cause that would be like picking a favourite parent, right?
As I grew up, I realized that all along « Home » was my dad’s daily family dinners where we would tell each other about our days. It was cuddling my mom on the couch whenever I visited her. It was playing with our pets. It was visiting family and sharing stories. It was spending time with friends that made me cry with laughter.
Home is a feeling. Home is love, laughter and joy.
I was supposed to be on a beach right now with an umbrella drink🍹 and a flank steak 🥩 in my belly, now they’ve forced me to dig for scraps and play with the cat. Time for an uprising✊

Jumping into winter like...
I am done with the fall pictures, winter has set in and I’m not complaining about it. It’s beautiful and filled with some of my favourite things: snowflakes, warm drinks, sweaters and blankets.
Do you guys have any snow where you’re at or did your area decide to actually have a fall? ☃️

Cedar seems to enjoy the views as much as I do sometimes. Do your dogs ever just stop and look at the view too?

It’s crazy how friendships can form so easily sometimes. @bowieandpresley was one of the first accounts on here that I connected with. She has always been so kind, helpful, and just all around an amazingly smart human that I could ask question and know I would get genuine answers. My heart sank to the floor last night seeing every devastating thing she had to go through last night. I know that little sweet Presley had been given the best life he could’ve been given and he was so loved! I was supposed to finally be meeting his happy face in October but he was taken too soon and my heart goes out to them through this hard time. Show them some love because I can’t think of someone more that deserves all the love right now. ♥️
