As I mentioned earlier, getting to Agra was a bit of an adventure. It all started when we realised taxis or buses simply didn’t exist in Laxma Jhula, the part of Rishikesh where we were staying. On top of that, no long distance transport departed from there either. Unless we wanted to pay an arm and a leg for private transportation (which we obviously didn’t), any possible way out would involve walking for a solid half-hour in the heat to the closest tuk tuk stand and wait until it filled up with people wanting to go to the same place as us. From there, realistically, we only had two practical options: either wait until nighttime and take an overnight bus to Agra from a middle of nowhere place by the motorway (which we sort of wanted to avoid) or hop on a shared tuk tuk to Haridwar, wait until nighttime and take an overnight bus from there instead. We opted for the latter, mostly because hotel rooms were so cheap we could book one just to chill until we had to leave. After the aarti we came back and were just about to head out when a loud thunder literally shook the building with an enormous bang - not good! We arrived at the terminal (which was really not more than a dark, muddy battlefield at this point) under the heaviest of rains, lightning and thunder. It was intense! The bus was delayed and we couldn’t wait to find ourselves lying comfortably inside on our way to Agra. We eventually got there the next morning and celebrated the end of such an epic journey in the best possible way: making silly poses in front of the good ol’ Taj, of course! 😎

Pic @world_photography.hub . . Keep me rather in this cage, and feed me sparingly, if you dare. Anything that brings me closer to illness and the edge of death makes me more faithful. It is only when you make me suffer that I feel safe and secure. You should never have agreed to be a god for me if you were afraid to assume the duties of a god, and we know that they are not as tender as all that. You have already seen me cry. Now you must learn to relish my tears.
