Three Colors: Red (1994)
Dir. by Krzysztof Kieslowski
In all three parts of the trilogy, an old person can be seen trying to throw an empty bottle into a recycling bin. In this final entry, Valentine (Irène Jacob) helps her, while in the other two parts the main character just watches.🚮
Have you seen the ‘Three Colors’ trilogy?🟦⬜️🟥
A special military unit fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.
1... Milla Jovovich did all of her own stunts except the pipe jump in the sewer scene. She used a stunt double in that scene, because her agent thought she would get strangled by the hanging wires.
2... The main actors were told to prepare for the film by getting copies of the games and playing them through. Some of them didn't know if they could complete them in time so they had to get video copies of other people beating the games and then watch it.
3... In the movie, Alice's fake husband is named Spence. This is a reference to the first game which took place in a mansion named the Spencer Estate. Also, one of the three founders of Umbrella Corporation in the game series is named Ozwell Spencer.
Directed by #JohnLeeHancock "The Highwaymen" stars #KevinCostner and #WoodyHarrelson as #FrankHamer and #ManeyGault , the Texas Rangers tasked with tracking down the infamous #BonnieParker and #ClydeBarrow . In contrast to the landmark 1967 film, "Bonnie and Clyde," which presented a romanticized version of the criminal couple as charming non-conformists, "The Highwaymen" shifts the focus to the brave lawmen on the case. This film does not glamorize #BonnieAndClyde , though it does point to their celebrity status amongst the common people. Actually, the faces of Bonnie and Clyde are barely shown on screen in this movie, but the aftermath of the brutal murders they commit is very prominent. Indeed, image versus reality becomes a central theme in this film - not only for Bonnie and Clyde, but also for Hamer and Gault. Costner and Harrelson are depicted as aging, out of touch lawmen who are struggling with becoming obsolete. In this way, the film plays like a classic western; with the manhunt taking the centre stage, while Hamer and Gault represent the old cowboys on the chase. Costner and Harrelson have fantastic chemistry together; they are able to play off of each other so well throughout the film. Both men have extended monologues about the morality of their actions, but also lighten the mood with a quippy one-liner when necessary. Their performances really elevate the film to greater heights. That being said, this movie is definitely a slow burn, it is also fairly cliche, and there are many familiar story beats. Therefore, this isn't going to be for everyone, you might get bored at times. Nevertheless, if you a fan of westerns, or crime dramas, or even buddy-cop movies, then you should enjoy "The Highwaymen." It is currently available to stream on #netflix , and I recommend checking it out, 7.5/10.

Somewhat Random Movie Collection: Movie 5 - Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping
Now, I don't write what most would call reviews; They are - most of the time - random musings that somewhat pertain to the topic at hand. There is a method, flow and purpose, but structured in such a way as to feel stream of consciousness diatribes that are somewhat random. I usually come back around to stating my opinion of the film, but that is all.
Don't get me wrong: I love the craft of the review. I spent many a moon doing said thing for my degree. It just is not a style that works for me on Instagram.
Why do I bring this up? Firstly, I don't think that I have ever given a mission statement for what I post here. Secondly, it is a really good way of discussing this movie.
You see, Popstar comes from the same school of comedy as Airplane! and Anchorman: funny vignettes that have a basic through line to tie everything together. Each scene is its own centerpiece that is not necessarily reliant on what has come before.
Wow, this is getting all pretentious as hell and I am annoying myself. Let's move to the end and see if it gets any better.
This is a extremely funny movie. I know that comedy is all subjective and you mileage may vary, but I think that it is definitely worth a watch. It is not as good as the comedies mentioned above, but it is smartly idiotic and silly. Much like The Lonely Island boys themselves.
Until next time, this has been Somewhat Random Movie Collection hanging out with my very best friends Alec Baldwin and Tom Petty.

Tomorrow I am kicking off what I have dubbed Day of Decades. Each decade of film from 1910-2020 I will post for the number of days for the corresponding decade. So 1 day for the 1910s, 2 for the 20’s, up to the 2010s being 11 days. The last day will feature films from this year. Working as Day 0 I figured I’d kick this off with a film from 1902 called A Trip to the Moon. This is one of the oldest films of all time and I was fortunate enough to have watched it in my film class in high school. Tomorrow will be 1 day of movies from the 1910’s. Have you seen A Trip to the Moon?

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness (2020)
Pulling you into the mind-boggling lifestyle of the people who encapsulates big cats for their own self-interests and the series of dastardly scandals that accompanies it, “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness” takes the definition of “bizarre” and flips it on its head with it’s disturbingly odd story that will undoubtedly shock you once you’ve discovered that these events are real and not some made up fantasy.
Centering around a flamboyant owner of a big cat zoo that calls himself “Joe Exotic”, the series documents the complexities and insanity that’s caused by this man as they explore other players in this game of zoo owners that each have decades-long love of wild animals, an enigmatic presence in front of a camera, and a cadre of dark secrets.
A sociological excursion into the minds of eccentric Americans who are addicted to the power that comes from owning tigers, this absolutely deranged dive into the true-crime tales of obsession and possessiveness is all tightly bundled together into a seven episode series that’s rife for binging as much as extensive conversations about all the unbelievable stuff that unfolds. Working through it’s saga, the show that was shot over five years organizes every interview and character examination as a series of events and thematic explorations that completely fills the seven episodes with natural comedy and juicy drama as it puts an immense amount of care into its story that’s not as plainly silly as it’s absurdly preposterous. * Continues in part 2 down below! *

Gal Gadot Varsano in Hebrew: גל גדות; Petah Tikva, is an Israeli actress and model, known mainly for the roles of Gisele in the franchise "The Fast and the Furious and "Diana Prince in Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe". In Hebrew, his first name means "wave" and the second "riverside." His parents are Irit, a teacher, and Michael Gadot, an engineer. Her father's family has been in Israel for six generations. Her maternal grandparents were born in Europe; her grandfather was a prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp and survived the Holocaust, and her grandmother also escaped the Nazis. She is descended from Polish, Austrian, German and Czech Jews. Gadot served two years in the Israel Defense Forces as a combat instructor. She described her time in the army as: "You give them two or three years of your life and it's not about you. You learn discipline and respect." She says it helped her stay with the role that belonged to Gisele Bündchen in the movie "Fast & Furious".
HG: But in your films, what part of the real, what part of the unreal, and what part of yourself do you place there?
AT: It's impossible to create something unreal. Everything is real and unfortunately we aren't able to abandon reality. We can express ourselves toward the world that exists in a poetic way or a purely descriptive manner. Personally, I prefer to express myself in a metaphoric way. I insist on saying metaphoric and not symbolic. The symbol intrinsically comprises a specific meaning, an intellectual formula, while the metaphor is the image itself. It's an image that possesses the same characteristics as the world it represents. Contrary to the symbol, its meaning is undefined. We aren't able to speak about a world that is truly boundless utilizing means which themselves are deflnite and restricted. We can analyze a formula, that is to say, a symbol, but a metaphor is an entity unto itself, a monomial. If one tries to describe it, immediately it falls to pieces.
