Hey FURiends -
So dad took me to the vet today because I have not been acting any better. After some blood work, the vet found that i most likely have Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA). As a result my body is essentially attacking itself. As an autoimmune disease, my body is destroying my red blood cells and my skin, causing my to have inflamed and itchy feet, causing me to lick them like I did and have been. Additionally, my gums and inner ears were very pale, which worried the vet and it turns out my hematocrit levels were only around 22 when they should be in the mid 40’s. The Vet said that at 17 a blood transfusion with an overnight stay for monitoring is highly recommended, so dad has to keep checking my gums the rest of the weekend and either take me in Monday for a blood test and possible transfusion or if I look better, he can wait till Tuesday. They’re really working on getting my appetite back up, so they’re pulling out all the stops. I’ve already had some salmon and eggs to try and spark me.
Beckham here to tell you a great story. 💙📖❤️ So mom got a ☎️ call that a westie puppy needed a home. So she said she wanted to drive 3 hours to meet me, Beckham💙. I cuddled with her and played with her and it was so fun. But I couldn’t go home with her just yet. ☹️
She noticed a wee little one in the corner crying and shaking in fear. Mom asked what about her (Chloe❤️) and was told she was a runt and they were having a hard time finding her a home. Chloe always tells me that she is the best and the best is always saved for last! 😳 Well, mom called dad and said we are having twins! 🎉 🎉 Our hooman brothers were even more excited because they had not one, but two new siblings! ❤️💙
Today is the day our family came to bring us home. Chloe was so scared of everything. See mom has had Westies since she was a wee one herself but never had two young fur babies at once. So mom learned how to groom us and it always looked like mom was attacked by a ferocious beast (aka Chloe) each time she did. 🤭 There were Westie sparkles everywhere and let me tell ya, we looked like a hot mess...cause mom wasn’t very good at it. But A for effort! ⭐️ Then bath 🛁 time...that was kinda funny to watch. Chloe would soak mom from head to toe! 💦Mommy would whisper to her...we love you and would never hurt you, you will love us one day. I am not going to even discuss twin potty training in the ❄️ winter, but I will leave that to your imagination. 🧻 😉🧻
It took almost six months to gain my sister’s trust, but finally she gave in. Now she loves to cuddle with the hoomans even more than me, go to the groomer without shaking or peeing on them and doesn’t soak mom as much at bath time.
We love our forever 🏡 and that we get to be together forever twinning as twins do! Here are some throwbacks to our first day home. The good old days when we could be sooo stinky and the hoomans couldn’t bathe us! 💩
Our Gotcha Day wish today and always is that dogs of all ages get adopted by loving, forever homes too! 💫Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and give your hoomans lots of squishes from us.
