Yesterday I headed to Murrindindi Scenic Reserve with some hiking friends. We walked a section of the Murrindindi River walk, from the Cascades to Water Gauge Camping ground. A stunning day to enjoy being out in the bush with great company!

Day 342. Hiked up a dry creek for a couple of hours today with my little boy.
Not much conversation happened for the first half hour. He guided me up and over big rocks, we saw snakes, eels and tadpoles and, he showed me a fossilised tree he'd found previously.
A long discussion followed on the process of fossilisation. He showed me which were river rocks and which were volcanic, and he explained how old this forrest is based on the depth of the creek bed.
Then the real conversation started.
2 hours in, after hiking and talking about rocks, we spoke about some deeper stuff; stuff that doesn't get spoken about every day.
Blokes don't like to talk, which is why all this encouragement to "talk to me bro" and ask each other "are you ok?" isn't working out the way we wish it would.
We need to be smarter about how we get our men to talk.
And in those magic moments between darkness and light, as the golden rays come filtering through, I find my inspiration. 🐘
I love writing, for me it is a way to express the emotions I feel. My inspiration comes from the moments around me, the light & the dark parts of the world. Sitting still is a hard task for me so I can only write when the emotions are so ready to bubble over.
