Unpopular Backpacker Opinion: Thailand is still King 👑
I’ve been to Thailand 5 times now & I re-fall in love every single time!
Many backpackers we’ve met along the way hold Thailand’s popularity against it. Claiming it’s too touristy & no longer an “authentic” travel destination.
But if you know where to look— Thailand still holds on to its roots.
These photos are from the Grand Palace. A massive royal palace in Bangkok & one of the major tourist destinations in the city.
Personally, I would skip the Palace. It’s $15 per person & you can see all the different stunning architecture styles at various free temples scattered all over the city instead.
My favorites include:
- Wat Saket or The Golden Mount
- Wat Ratchanatdaram
-Wat Benjamabhopit or the Marble Temple
That way you’ll skip the crowds.
Because despite what this photo shows— we arrived at just before 8am (opening-time) & it was already packed to the gills with tourists.

Complete isolation #quarantine
There's a single flower growing
who feels very much alone
amidst a sea of tall grass.
But little does the flower know,
it's beauty is just being protected.
Throw back to one of the most beautiful and memorable trip I had in recent past. It gifted me one more tick on my bucket list, Paragliding ✔. Flying over the magical landscape of Gudauri in Georgia was an exhilarating experience. And it's me on that red and blue canopy.

This was my attempt at getting creative and trying to capture a different perspective of these massive yellow tulips a few years ago at the Keukenhof Flower Park. 💐 In self-quarantine, I'm now trying to be inventive in finding things to do as I'm sure you are doing! ⠀ ⠀
While I've been online schooling for almost 3 years now, we too have been refraining from leaving the house since the spread of the coronavirus and have definitely been spending a lot more time on Netflix! 😅 Do you have any tips to share on what to do while social distancing?

2 weeks ago when Shinjuku Gyoen was still open and I had the whole garden to myself at sunset.
Who else feels like they were constantly running after something, chasing something? A good career, a perfect relationship, the next dreamy destination... now we are forced to take a break and focus on our physical and mental health. I know it is a stressful period, but let’s take it easy. This weekend all I’ve been doing was sleeping, cooking and cleaning. I haven’t been the most productive, but it’s okay.
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Stay home and stay healthy 🙏

We found this peaceful spot on day 1 of social distancing... that was a little over 2 weeks ago now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We sat there for a while thinking about how much the world has changed already and will continue to change. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by COVID at this time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When things look bleak, it’s key to remember the good things that are still all around us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do a virtual meetup with your friends, find an activity that brings you peace while indoors, make a relaxation spot in your house, or go through photos of your favorite memories! Make an online scrapbook or listen to a band’s livestream - do whatever brings you joy. ✌🏼😊⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stay safe and enjoy those joyful moments you have during this time! One.day.at.a.time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

"Step one of the video editing process is picking a travel song. Next for me is sifting through the cinematic footage I have and selecting the best clips for the song I already picked. I think these first two steps are the hardest parts for me. The feeling is compared to how I feel when having to start writing that 11 paper in college that I reaaaallly did not want to write. But, once I write those first three sentences (and they somewhat make sense) that’s when I get in “the flow” which turns into “the zone,” which then makes me excited to finish. It’s so gratifying once completing that video because of how long the process is. And of course the video becomes my masterpiece 😊." - @israaizzy ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are any of you honing any travel blogging skills this staycation? I think I'll probably start... eventually 😅 **Show us your adventure @girlsabroad.jpg#thisgirltravelsabroad ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉👉Don't forget to show @israaizzy some love!💖

dreaming of the day I can see this skyline again💛 woke up today and watched 15 minutes of tiktoks, did a 20-minute workout and then made French toast. Now sipping on a passion fruit mimosa. It’s all about balance, right? 🙃 How’s your Saturday?

Thought I’d do some editing on my forgotten travel snaps before I go for my government approved singular exercise. This one from the dolomites last year ⛰🇮🇹 hope everyone in Italy is hanging on in there and keeping safe! Sending virtual hugs to my Italian followers! 💓
The weather has been warming up fast and I've really been enjoying feeling both the warm sun and breezy air. ☀️ What's Spring looking like for you, wherever you might be? I hope you're getting the chance to get a breath of fresh air while social distancing!

When we first arrived in Sri Lanka, I thought it was going to be a “beginners level” India.
But boy, I was so wrong. There are undoubtedly similarities in religious culture & some varieties of food but it pretty much ends there.
This photo was from Dambulla Caves. One of Sri Lanka’s several UNESCO Heritage sites. Beautifully preserved cave temples perched atop a small hill tucked into the center of the country.
Just one of many historical sites around the country that Sri Lanka has painstakingly preserved for the future.
Many of us these days have learned to value things that really matter. Some of us already did it, others we did but we were not aware, and others we didn’t even take into account ... If I‘ve always liked traveling to Africa, because any trip there is a learning experience. They do know the real value of things...
It seems that although they live with less than us, they are happier. Or at least they don't usually worry about banal things...
They aren’t prejudiced, they always welcome you with a smile, they invite you home to eat with them without knowing you (although this means having to eat less or stay without dinner), they always offer you their help, they greet you even if they don't know you... That it, they are more human.
Hopefully after all this we‘ve learned something and we also become more human... Do you already know the african smile? Any other in love with this beautiful country?
▫️The last weekend away we had before everything got out of hand was at this place in Ubud.... What I would do to be in quarantine there!
▫️No one saw the coronavirus getting this serious (maybe a few predicted it) but its reminded me that we have to appreciate EVERYTHING, every moment, every breath of fresh air... And ever swimming pool looking over the jungle.
▫️100% practicing more gratitude from this moment forward.

What has been the most magical sunrise you’ve experienced? Mine was on this chilly winter morning in Iceland, as we made our way into nature’s own hot springs... the air was as crispy as the ground beneath us ✨

⛩moving back to Japan edition⛩
In 2017, I was in Japan for a year. To say it was perfect would be an understatement... On top of having the most magical job✨ I went on 60+ domestic & international adventures (I counted) and it was an absolute dream come true🇯🇵 Now in 2020, it’s.... different 😷 Not just in Japan, but all over the world. Things are nowhere near the same & I’m more nervous than excited to explore. As of just a few days ago, more action is finally being taken & the people of Tokyo are being asked to stay home. It’s not an official quarantine, but it’s a start. My rehearsals are being postponed & the opening date of my show will probably be a lot later than anticipated. Although I didn’t expect my year to go this way, I know GLOBALLY we are all feeling the same. This experience is surely different than the one I had in 2017, but I’m still so so thankful. Thankful to be here, to have a job, to have family & friends who are healthy, and do my part in healing our world 🌎💫
