The above is said rhetorically by the beautiful people of Cote d'ivoire, which to me translates into not wallowing in any situation and to instead enjoy the journey.
I love reading sayings and proverbs from around the world. It gives me an insight into how people from a particular place view life; physically, abstractly, culturally and otherwise.
What's a saying/proverbs/quote, from another country, that you love? Please share I'm curious 🤗
STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS – For creatives.
As human beings, we tend to look at other people and compare ourselves to them, the same thing also happens when it comes to photography or any other art.
Let me tell you something that you need to put straight into your mind: YOU CAN’T BE THE BEST.
Yes I said it, but let me explain before you jump into conclusion (actually you can...)
I said this because as a human being, there is a certain mindset that you need to have in order to be the ‘’BEST’’ at what you do. And this is self improvement. BEST IS BEST, there’s nothing better than BEST (hope you get me). The fact that you identify yourself as the best means there's no room for improvement, since youre at your peak level, and that you do not have the intention to better yourself, which is not the correct mindset to have.
Staying motivated by the idea of being the best at what you do is what brings improvement and this is the right thing to do.
There is always someone who’s going to do/be better than you, and that’s Okay. Use this person as an inpiration instead of comparing yourself to him/her. They should only be a motvation for you to keep working on your craft.
Also, when you start, please do not be afraid to put out your work after seeing the ones of people at the top. The reason why they are a the “Top” is because they've been there for long and had the time to develop their skills. And if you dont want to make mistakes, how would you learn?
At some point in their life, they were You, at your stage... So trust the process and keep going.
