One of the things I love about New York City is its neighborhoods. Each area has a distinct character. It is a very walkable city and there is always so much to discover with every visit. 🚶🏼♀️ #travelerinnewyork
Sunsets in Dubrovnik 🌅 😍
If you remember my last post about Dubrovnik... you might remember that I really didn’t like it 😂 it was SO busy, packed with cruise ships passengers and it was impossible to get a decent photo without ten million other people in it 😬
As I was flying back from Dubrovnik, I had to head back through the Old Town, or the ‘tourist hellhole’ 😆 I was there at around 5:15 and the sun had started setting - the light was perfect and was glimmering through the trees here by Ploča Gate. The number of people was drastically reduced and it was much more peaceful - still relatively busy but since it is now October and there wasn’t a cruise ship in port it was WAY quieter than last time!
I took the boat from the Old Port across to Cavtat, where I was staying (since it was closer to the airport). This was a gorgeous boat journey at sunset! 🌅 if you saw my stories a few days back, you’ll have seen about my flight crisis thanks to Apple’s new software update (crashed my phone and it wouldn’t turn on, off, or restart - none of my alarms went off after the update crashed my phone so I missed my flight 💀) but it ended up meaning I had another day to explore Dubrovnik and Cavtat. Dubrovnik was busy AGAIN (multiple ships in port) so I took the boat to Cavtat again and went to my fave ice cream place 🤤 if you are in Dubrovnik or Cavtat, don’t miss Wine Bar Ankora - delicious bruschetta, great wine and amazing (including dairy free) ice cream 🍦
It was lovely to see the quieter side of Dubrovnik! I definitely think I could come back during late October or November 🧐 however, make sure to check port arrivals! Even in October, some days still have THREE OR FOUR SHIPS IN PORT. That is... ridiculous 😬 the 19th October looks busy af 😮
Have you ever missed a flight or had any other flight crisis? That day was stressful for me 😂

Can we make Sourdough Sunday a thing? Starting with this little bakery on Broadway Market. They’ve got an envious supply of fresh loaves, sandos, and pastries. And the occasional pup waiting outside.

This weekend I was very fortunate to be invited to Bristol by @VisitEngland and @VisitBristol for one of the launch events for their #MyMicroGap campaign!
Bristol is a city that @B_IsForBeth and I both love to visit. If you’ve followed me for a little while you’ll know that I love visiting for the annual @BristolBalloon Fiesta, I’d highly recommend adding it to next years diary!
Visit England have categorised these ‘staycations’ under four areas:
Go Wild – exhilaration and pushing yourself to the limit!
Learn More – go out and master a new skill or improve on an existing one.
Give Back – doing something positive and create memories.
Switch Off – unwind, reflect and focus on yourself.
My Bristolian trip was under ‘Learn More’!
We met at @YurtLush a cool Mongolian style Yurt that serves the most amazing brownies around a warm fire in the centre of the tent!
Next was @WhereTheWall who offer street art tours of Bristol and spray sessions, to have a go at painting with a can and that is exactly what we did! We learnt about the history of the street art scene and how the rule book has totally changed. Graffiti was once frowned upon in the city, however Bristol has now become the UK hub for the art and even has an annual street art festival - @UpFest. After our insightful tour we headed to the studio to get our hands on stencils and cans to try for ourselves!
Lunch followed at @CanteenBristol a very cool and quirky restaurant located in Stokes Croft. Here we were treated to a tasty butternut squash soup and a beautiful noodle salad! The sustainable Canteen is all about the community, slow food, local suppliers, fair prices and live music!
The packed schedule finished at @TheMilkThistle a famous speakeasy for a gin master class. The gin was definitely following as we were taken through the history of the popular spirit whilst trying various tipples along the way! If you’re looking for good food, good drinks and a good time in a very cool setting, check them out!
