🌟 I use my grill for cold and warm weather - do you? Now, to be fair, my grill IS outside in a screened porch area, protected from the elements. In reality, we probably grill more in the winter than we do in the summer... that probably has to do with us loving cool weather much more than warmer weather. There is something satisfying to me about bundling up and curling up together on the outside comfy couch. Are you like that? Or, are you like, "no wayyyy, gimmme all the heat back!"
Foil foods were a trending food a year or two ago on Pinterest and listed in all the food trend articles that blanketed the internet. They are really quite fun to put together - and efficient - if you haven't already tried it. Just don't do it too often because who wants any tin foil residue in our systems? Not me!
It's quite easy to make foil meals: just layer! This meal was a layer of onions, peppers , carrots, and chicken! Add seasonings and butter and oil and voila! A one-pot, I mean one-grill, meal!
🌟 It's soup weather!!! Who's with me? I throw together soup at least twice a week - even during summertime, truthfully. Not only is soup super satisfying, but it is also so healthy to put together a soup that is chocked full of veggies and other delicious proteins such as beans, chicken, and meats. I like to mix it up - and keep tons of miscellaneous frozen veggies in my freezer so I can throw a little bit of this and little bit of that in there.
What is your favorite go-to soup?
Do you even have a go-to-soup?
Awk! You don't? Let's remedy that already!
C'mon everybody, let's chat about our favorite soups so we can inspire others!
PS: I love a gooood chicken meatball and veggie soup!

I’m DROOLING! Literally drool just escaped as I was talking 😂 Homemade falafel from @thejoyofcooking
We're sharing one of our favorite ways to cook eggplant in this week's sneak-peak. Introducing our new Miso-Glazed Eggplant dish with mirin, sake and miso. While it makes for a perfect side dish, it's savory enough to serve as a main. #joyofcooking#eggplant#fall
When life gives you egg whites, try making meringues. This was my first attempt using the @lallimusic recipe from #wherecookingbegins . Having very little experience with meringues and how precise that process can be I’d say it was a solid first pass despite essentially making cookies. I still gave them away to friends who said they had great flavor and the right texture. If I were to venture a guess on what went wrong I’d say the hard peaks I had thought I formed in the whipping process were actually soft peaks so hopefully the next time I post a meringue picture they’ll have flavor, appearance, and texture, but for right now two out of three ain’t bad. #trytryagain#food#foodie#cook#cooking#bake#baking#basically#bonappetit#bonappetitmag#healthyish#joyofcooking#chef
To me, this cookbook is family. My grandmother had it, my mother had it, and it brought me beloved childhood memories of delicious homemade #waffles (ones that are a frequent meal request on my birthday). ° #JoyofCooking is considered America's most popular cookbook and is known for inspiring the craft of chefs like Julia Child. With eight editions published since the original in 1931, it truly is a cooking resource that spans generations. My family is not the only one to make it a staple in each home. °
Today I hold on to the book more for nostalgia than anything. Many of its recipes are from a different era, one that I no longer want to cook in. Puffed Cheese with Mushrooms on Toast? Pheasant in Game Sauce? Chicken Liver in Sour Cream Sauce? No thank you. I find the most value of this book in the commentary that introduces each section. There are also some exceptional recipes for baking. But for me, it's really just all about those waffles and the memories they bring.
Reached the end of my weekend cookathon! 8 different dishes cooked and frozen. I've always loved cooking- it's always seemed to me to be simultaneously grounding and creative. The perfect coexistence of necessity with experimentation and passion. Plus, creating food should be fun. That aromatic, heady cornucopia of exotic spices and traditional herbs, rainbow-coloured vegetables, quality meat and fish and a dash of some secret/favourite extra ingredients that have passed through family folklore, down the generations. I can't remember when I first started to cook. But I do remember being taught by my mum. Watching her put time and love into creating something nutritious from the most basic of ingredients, whatever was going on in her life. It gave her a centre, a focus, an anchor in an often turbulent world around her. I realised, very young, that good food is not about perfection - it is about intent and care and love and wanting to gift those feelings to others through the joy of cooking for them. So, what about the scales in the photo? I've had them for so many years - as evidenced by the fact that the old weights are in pounds and ounces. The scales and the weights mirror the ones my mum used, and her mum before her. They are my old, trusted, resilient friends and they are a bridge between my desire to produce something literally balanced whilst celebrating the fun of creating. #celebratelife Day 197 #cooking#savourthemoments#sunday#weekend#joyofcooking#creating#legacy#family
Never been a breakfast kind of girl, unless I have time to make this gorgeous platter. I call it Polish breakfast
On the platter: lactose free farmers cheese freshly made this morning ( yes- you can make cheese at home, and no it is not hard!!), Wasa sourdough crispbread topped with avocado, tomatoes, green onions. It is light, delicious and filled with protein. You gotta love it.
🌟 Have you ever walked into a restaurant or shop and the music was "just perfect?" You know, that feeling where your body and mind instantly get into that chill mode. Yes! You know that feeling, don't you?
That's how I feel about meal prep... it's almost a meditative state, done correctly. There's something special about the chop, chop, chopping of veggies and lining everything out for the upcoming meal and meals.
When TV is the background, it is challenging to mute the commercials and so your background noise - aka noise pollution - is cluttering your thoughts. Put on your favorite chill music, and now the sound is your symphony. Your movement is the performance.
How do you like to prep your food?
How do you WISH you could prep your food?
Do you have a fav go-to music? Me? I'm loving Stacey Kent @staceykentofficial on amazon music right now. She's my jive. Who's yours?
Deep Dish Apple Pie with Cheddar Crust from #joyofcooking book. I used @cabotcheese clothbound cheddar for the crust. The crust looks bad bc gluten free flour is fussy. It'll come to the pie party, but it won't talk to anyone and it certainly won't agree to play any parlor games.
🌟 I’ve been wondering, “Are chaffles the new cauliflower?” Once you learn how to make broccoli and cheese chaffles, you may be wondering the same thing. “How in the world did someone figure out that simple, low-carb ingredients tastes the same as regular waffles?” Or, in this case – taste like an Eggo brand waffle.
I have to admit that until recently, chaffles were new to me. It wasn’t until my friend @biggpittstop shared a FB post about what is trending on Pinterest -- did the word “chaffle” enter my vocabulary. According to Pinterest trends, chaffles are a trending topic.
If you've wondered what chaffles are (cheese + egg waffles) and if they are easy to make (they are!) and if they are healthy (yep!), I have a recipe link in my bio! Check it out!
Some all-time faves 😍 Where do you stash your most-referenced cookbooks?

Baisers roux. .
When an accompaniment becomes much more than that. These little iced vegetables, so tasty, so tender, so greedy are for us much more than a simple accompaniment. It's a pure moment of pleasure. In short, something that is priceless.
The cooking and all it understands from the moment when one does the shopping, prepares the ingredients, cooks, set the dish then tastes. This is not bankable because it represents a simple way to access to happiness moments. Parcels of joy, happy little constellations. That makes you feel that way too ? I share the recipe, very simple, in stories during the day. Baisers roux. .
