I’m a broken record with this saying but...kids model their eating habits after YOU. The only reason that collard green chicken salad wrap is in Robert’s lunchbox is because he saw me eating it for lunch yesterday, asked to try a bite, then requested his own for lunch, and then requested one for his lunchbox today. It’s easy, folks. Some kids will model good eating habits sooner than others, but if you’re consistent - it *will* happen. Show them the way you want them to eat by eating well yourself. It’s simple 👏🏻

Just got back from Great Wolf Lodge and the boys had so much fun! 🌊 Kiddo3 asked if I could BUY the lodge so he could live there 😂 I wish!! 🤪 Anyhow, it's cloudy and snowy ❄️☁️ today so here are two Christmas-colour-inspired lunches🎄☃️🎅🏼

Última lancheira da semana! Tá uma delicinha 😍 Lanche 1: maçã em pétalas com limão. Almoço: massa com molho branco - voltarei em breve com a receita mega fácil e maravilhosa desse molho - com cogumelos e brócolis. O lanche 2 não está na foto, mas é biscoitos salgados, frutas secas e queijo. Para beber eu mandei um chá de echinacea 💕
Ps: minha filha de 4 anos AMA cogumelos na manteiga, mas a de 7 anos ainda não é muito fã. Mesmo assim ela sempre pede para eu colocar UM cogumelo para ela provar de novo 💕 Ela sabe que vale a pena tentar várias vezes, com preparos diferentes. Talvez ela goste de algum jeito, e se não gostar está tudo bem.
Last lunchbox of the week! It's yummy! 😍 Snack 1: apple in petals with lemon. Lunch: pasta with white sauce - I'll be back soon with the easy and wonderful sauce recipe - with mushrooms and broccoli. Snack 2 is not pictured, but it is salty crackers, dried fruits and cheese. To drink I sent an echinacea tea 💕
Ps: my 4 yo daughter LOVES mushrooms in butter, but the 7 yo is not a big fan yet. Even so she always asks me to put ONE mushroom for her to try again 💕 She knows it's worth trying several times with different preparations. Maybe she likes it somehow, and if she doesn't, it's fine.

T has been enjoying taking bagels these days and wanted something different. Today i made grilled pizza bagel which is just bagel with cheese, pepperoni and little tomato sauce. You just need to press it down on a buttered skillet like when u make a grilled cheese sandwich. Let it cool down before packing it. I also added some egg white spinach rolls for some extra protein. One more lunch to go!

How do you make white beans? I posted this on my story the other day, and received a lot of great ideas, I’d love for you all to share them here! 🌶
I offered you some white beans with a little avocado oil for lunch. But I ended up adding the rest in a soup and with tons of spinach and other veggies. For her lunch I added quinoa, beans, grapes, celery, orange peppers and a half of a corn muffin I made from @littlebitsof_realfood 🌶

When it comes to talking to kids, nutrition and healthy eating is not always the easiest thing. Sometimes we need to structure things in an easy to digest manner for them.
Some of the key talking point of these graphics are below
🍞Sugary foods, grains - helps us move and run, give us energy⠀⠀
🥚Meat, eggs, beans, dairy (protein), nuts - make our muscles strong⠀⠀
🥞Coconut, avocado, olive oils and butter (fats) - help our brains think⠀⠀
For fruits and veggies, I usually break it down by color. Although this is not accurate for every single veggie, I think it’s a good framework to get started. ⠀⠀
❤️ Red: gives you a strong heart⠀⠀
🧡 Orange: helps you see in the dark⠀⠀
💛Yellow: helps your body heal cuts⠀⠀
💚Green: gives you super powers to fight off sickness⠀⠀
💜💙Blue and Purple: Give you a strong brain⠀⠀
💟White: gives you energy⠀⠀
Here's what we do in our house:⠀
1) I mom-up. Me and my hubby are in charge of food at our house. Our kids don't decide what's served. We don't serve "play foods" a lot. And we do this in a way that our kids don't feel restricted.
2) I don't say any food is "bad" or draw attention to them.⠀ 3) I serve play foods along side all other foods to make them less special.
4) I serve play foods. Now and then. And keep them from becoming a "thing."⠀ Play foods include heavily processed foods, fried foods, and foods with a lot of added salt and sugar.
And I do enjoy these foods sometimes myself. I'm team salty 1000%. How about you, salty or sweet?⠀
We want to pass on health to our kids (at least I do!) I think it's easy to think "If just I tell my kids what is healthy, they will be healthy." For me though, it's the core beliefs that end up having a bigger impact on the kids. ⠀
We can change that though. We can hear ourselves talk and ask ourselves if we need to adopt new ways of thinking about ourselves and about food. When we stop judging and start accepting ourselves, we open up a new way of speaking about food that will help our little ones have a good relationship with food.⠀

Any festive foods going in your lunchbox this Halloween? 🧙🏻♀️ My kids gave me their requests weeks ago! Here are a few fast and easy ideas:
Pumpkin Pizzas 🎃🍕- I use pie dough, pepperoni and mozzarella (you can make them veggie too!)
Spooky Apple Lips 🍎👄 - use your favorite nut or seed butter + gmo free marshmallows
Demon Celery Boats 🧟♀️ - black sesame and pomegranate seeds boost the creepy factor
Carrots and tangerines with Halloween picks 👻
Dye-free candy corn 🧡💛
To a pressure cooker, add ghee and add the whole spices
Add onions, green chillies and saute
Add ginger-garlic paste and saute along
Add corn kernels and mix well
Add salt and mix well
Add soaked basmati rice and mix well
Add coconut milk (if you don't have coconut milk, you can use regular milk or you can skip it) and water and mix well
Pressure cook the pulao
Finally, garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it hot with some raita or any gravy of your choice.
