#myhousethismonth day 13
Generally it’s the last room we decorated, which in this case is our kitchen. We’re so pleased with the transformation on a relatively low budget. This room really is the proverbial heart of our home now (plus it’s really snug at this time of year thanks to the Aga pumping out heat). If the rule of lasts continues to apply, my favourite room will soon be my study. After a year of milestone birthdays and an anniversary we’re ready to kick house projects back up a gear and are hoping to have the study and Kurt’s workspace done by Christmas. After that it’ll be full steam ahead with the dining room in the new year!
This week I’ve been working on a kitchen restyle. ➡️ ****Swipe to see before pics ***
My lovely clients had a new kitchen installed 2 years ago but were never fully satisfied with the end result and didn’t know what to change to make it better, so they asked me to come and have a look. With just two simple changes, I have dramatically changed the overall look and feel of this space.
The first change was taking the cappuccino coloured glass splashbacks off and replacing them with a beautiful heavily patterned multicolour tile. I then added a deep rich blue on the walls to offer a much needed contrast against the cream units and the wood. The rest was just choosing the right accessories and styling up. My clients are now finally in love with their kitchen, it’s a shame it’s taken 2 years for them to feel this way but better late than never and.... somethings I suppose are just worth waiting for! 🥰🥰 .
There’s nothing I love more than seeing a design come to life, and working with fabulous clients, who put their complete trust in me. Thankyou ❤️

Here is one of the spaces that has only managed to get a slight facelift so far thanks to a can of white paint. The kitchen is our least favourite space in the house and it’s largely due to the poor use of space and limited natural light. We’re also three years on and still don’t have a dishwasher so that’s cute...🙃
We’re currently planning how to knock through to the downstairs loo and shower room behind so that this space can look out into the garden. We’ll need to move some water works and potentially build into the chimney stack which these horrendous farmhouse style cupboard are hiding to the left. Could we afford this next year? 🤔 We would love to do a @_lisa_dawson_ and reuse the frames and fit new doors but that is not going to be an option due to how old and battered the frames are. Damn you renovation for ruining our eco dreams!
Did you know that we can also paint your kitchen cabinets? And better yet, we're in and out in just one day!

Happy Monday, everyone! I’ve been so MIA 🙈 Last week was a week of playing catch-up with work, sorting through and throwing out stuff in the kitchen, and running from one place to another. This week, I’m aiming to get this kitchen finished 🙏 In the meantime, I’ve added a couple of touches! I am obsessed with this sink caddie from @pier1 😍 I also have shelves coming either today or tomorrow, and we have decided to try our hand with a peel-and-stick backsplash for now. For our revamp, we chose a more economical way to update the kitchen: paint the pre-existing cabinets, add some hardware, and replace one laminate countertop for another. So, instead of doing a real-deal backsplash for a kitchen that will maybe someday get the makeover of our dreams, we decided that there are so many fantastic products out there that will look just as beautiful for the time being. I’ll keep you all updated this week on our progress! Have a great week!
The kitchen in our house was done in 2012 by the previous owner and as she rarely used it, it’s in great condition 👏🏼 The future plan is to knock through and have a kitchen with an island. That is YEARS away
So I just wanted to do a budget friendly revamp 💓 I’m going to be painting the doors drawers and fronts, and knowing me I’ll have to spruce up the walls too... I just can’t help myself
I will be using @tikkurila_uk primer and paint in their Helmi 30 satin finish in the Little Greene colour Boddington Green
Really looking forward to this!! #beforephotos#kitchenmakeoveronabudget#homediyproject#tikkurilapaint#emmymdiy#kitchenrevamp
People often say their wedding day was the best day of their lives but I’d say my first date with @crowmotion_ was up there for me. I mean the wedding was great, but our first date was excellent. We met on a Saturday afternoon in Soho and we basically stayed out until Monday 🤟🏻😜It’s been a wonderfully bonkers 9 years; 5 homes, 3 kids, 1 relocation and lots of Bombay mix, wine and laughing. He almost chopped the end of his finger off last week in this very spot and resulted in him having to spend a precious Saturday night in A&E. He’s had to wear a comedy bandage all week and put up with me rejoicing in him permanently looking like he’s pointing at something 🤣What a trooper. 👆🏻So here’s to groovy, groovy love 💕💕💕 .

This looks amazing! They look like tiles but are actually wall panels simple and easy to do! Transformed our kitchen space the panels are 100% waterproof too so can be used in bathrooms, kitchens or anywhere really! See my stories for before !!! #kitchen#kitchenrevamp#greykitchen#interiordesign

DISCLAIMER my kitchen does not look this tidy right now! How awful was it before (and I chose that 19 years ago!!)
In fact it rarely stays tidy for more than 5 minutes! It is cleaning day today (possibly if I can be bothered) but first a look around the recycling shop and charities to see if I can get a bargain. (Or more clutter as my daughter shouts)
Next job on the house list is to get the very small loft hatch made bigger before all the plastering starts. You cant even get your shoulders through it, its ridiculous. I've never been up there in 19 years!! So 'stuff' mostly hangs around the house, on top of wardrobes, in wardrobes, under beds, in plain sight grrrr!
Hope you all have a productive weekend 😊⭐
After a lengthy break I’m back!
We’ve had some setbacks with my husbands health, so he’s been my priority.
For years I’ve been totally obsessed with interiors, in fact I live and breathe everything ‘home’. However, over the years I’ve made some bad choices, I’m sure we all have. 🤷♀️ One of the hardest to rectify was our kitchen tiles.
I chose them under pressure whilst heavily pregnant, with the builder saying ‘we need tiles now’ do I just grabbed & went.
To this day I can remember saying to the builder as he put them up “I hate them” and his response was “too late, you can change them in the future”. A week later I gave birth and all my priorities changed.
The years have rolled by, and on many occasion I have found myself pondering on how I can ‘easily’ change the tiles.
On more than one occasion we have tried to move house (the tiles weren’t a reason for moving, but hey, you’ve got to consider everything)
But alas, Brexit was announced, viewings didn’t happen, and as it turns out, my husband has to go to a hospital about and hour south of us (not north, the direction we hoped to move to) frequently, so here we still are.
I love my house, but not the tiles (some people might) and this week, they were GONE!! 🙌🏻🙏😊 It’s work in progress, so watch this space!
What’s been your ‘ooops’ moment when decorating/renovating? .

The kitchen is finally finished. Thank you to @exeterspraycentre The kitchen was really dated but very good quality with solid wood doors. Rather than ripping out the lot and replacing with what would probably be inferior carcasses and doors it seemed much less wasteful to revamp it. @exeterspraycentre came and took away all the removable parts to spray them and returned a week later to refit them. In that time the tiles were updated, work surfaces replaced and a new mosaic floor. It cost a fraction of what a new kitchen would cost with relatively little disruption. No it’s not always this tidy! It is dressed for photos. Would definitely recommend! .
This is it! Last time I will post this lounge view with the white ceiling. The darkness of this photo has me a little worried about the light in this room, but I’ve also decided to let my creativity go wild and so the addition of more gold leaf than originally planned will hopefully help. I do have to wait for the final test tonight to make sure this is enough light in the evening. And that we’re ok with the slightly space-ship-y style of these lovely lights. But if all good in both counts, we will patch up the other two holes and I’ll be ready to paint and gold leaf away! 😎💜 🎨 .
Like the colour of this kitchen featured on Ideal home? It reminds me of my current crush "Tea with Florence". By little Greene Paints. Consider these colour way if you love it too.
All I’m saying is, sometimes you just have to see the potential in something you already have looking like what it is you really want 🖤

It’s fiiiiiinally the weekend 🙌🏼🙌🏼 after what’s felt like the longest. week. ever. I’m so ready for it. I was hoping it would be a weekend in the garden (working on it that is - not relaxing in it, obvs) but it’s literally just constant rain 😭 Hope you all have a more productive weekend than I think this one will be for us 😬 ps. For everyone who always assumes the no.43 is at the front door - it’s in the kitchen! Durrrr... 🙃🤷🏻♀️😂🖤
