Update on some of Chloe's Crew! FKA Archer and Castor are now Ashley and Drift. They got adopted into the same home and get to grow up together. I didn't know that before and only happy cried a lot.
Their adopters also found out something that left me shocked. Turns out those big ol ears on our boy are purely decorative. I lived with this kitty from the day he was born until the day he left for his surgery and adoption and had no clue he couldn't hear me. It's pretty amazing how he not only gets along fine with his disability, he does so well I didn't even know he has one!
One year in our family, Astrid 🖤🧡 we still remember when we saw some pictures of you on fb, we immediately think those eyes deserved love, tranquility and a home where to live a great life. Those eyes deserved to be part of our family. We thought Noa wouldn't be so happy about it, but she welcomed you as special as she is, with a lot of love, teaching you (and after one year she still do it) how to live.
We saved you from the street and now, after exactly one year, we can say we never made a better decision. Without you your hoomen wouldn't be so happy.
Thanks for everything, our Asteroide Galattico ❤️
We didn't save you: you came from the sky to bring happiness in our family.
It’s been a rough 9 days, but things are finally looking brighter for the Sunnies! They are no longer painfully thin and now sport round tummies and fat pads across their hips (same, kiddos, same). Maui Jim is weighing in at 1.5 lb, which is actually on the larger side for a 5-week-old kitten, while Oakley is trailing a bit at 1.1 lb. This is a dramatic improvement over the 10-12 oz they were when they first arrived. MJ still has a bit of a head tremor, but it’s only noticeable when he’s concentrating really hard on something. Otherwise you’d never know he was partially paralyzed just one week ago. He rarely walks anywhere now, he’s always hopping and skittering and pouncing all over the place. He basically weaned himself and immediately mastered the litterbox. He loves playing with toys and wrestling with his sister, but as soon as he gets tired he comes looking for a lap to snuggle up in. Oakley is also making remarkable strides, even though her trembling is still very pronounced. As her strength slowly returns, she has pushed through the shaking to master sitting, standing, rolling over, and even some tentative walking. There is visible determination on this girl’s face as she watches her brother’s every move and attempts to do everything he does. We don’t know when or even if the tremors will subside, but I have no doubt she will be fully mobile in no time. The goal right now is to get her functioning as fully as possible. We are experimenting with different feeding methods and easy-access litterboxes, and I’ve started a daily exercise routine with her to help increase the strength and flexibility in her legs. It’s hard not to compare her progress with Maui Jim’s, but Oakley clearly has her own timetable so we’re taking our cues from her. I just adore these beautiful babies and am so happy they found their way into our home and hearts! ❤️
