Diyaluma Falls is 220 m (720 ft) high and the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 361st highest waterfall in the world. It is situated 6 km (3.7 mi) away from Koslanda in Badulla District on Colombo-Badulla highway. The Falls are formed by Punagala Oya, a tributary of Kuda Oya which in turn, is a tributary of Kirindi Oya. #tourguidemodeon#trekking#waterfalls#diyaluma#ella#wellawaya#koslanda#srilanka 🇱🇰
Further upstream from Upper Diyaluma ❤️ are stunning cascades falling into rocky natural pools ☀️ Photo by Nicole from @chaordic.path during her travels in the island! 👣
When in Upper Diyaluma, take a stroll along the stream to two separate locations. About 200 meters up stream from the edge of Upper Diyaluma, are a set of tiered pools. In most photos they're seen with people leaning off the edge and enjoying the view ❤️
A further 150 meters upstream is a place tagged as the Diyaluma Lake, however it's merely a quiet pool with far fewer visitors 🇱🇰
⚠️ Extreme caution is advised when diving into rocky pools ⚠️ In case of emergencies, there are two hospitals 🏥 in Koslanda District Hospital (4 to 5 Km from upper and lower falls) and the Wellawaya Base Hospital (12.km from lower Diyaluma & 22.Km from Upper Diyaluma) ⚠️
Note : Camping is strictly prohibited in Upper Diyaluma 🇱🇰

We truly felt like guests of the jungle during our tranquil stay at @livingheritagekoslanda. Every night, we’d fall asleep to the hum of jungle critters. And every morning, we’d wake up to the light chirps of birds, taking in the crisp air. A much needed escape. 🍃 Oh, and our resident gecko pooped on @xjteo 😂
British planters found that the climate of the Hill Country could be too chilly at times, and the low country was too hot most of the time. But between the high hill country of Bandarawela and the low country of Wellawaya and Hambantota, they found that Koslanda at 700 meters elevation has a climate that is never too hot and never too cold, but just right.
Back home from the jungle 🐒
It was so good to be back amidst the mountains after ages. Didn't really realise how much we've been missing the chilly weather and the beautiful sceneries until we got there.
What do you prefer? Mountains 🏞 or the beaches 🏖?

Views worth rolling out of bed at 6 AM for 😍
If you look closely you can see how much of a grumpus I am early morning, shows it all on my face.
💁But oh well, if I'm there for only one sunrise and when the views are this good, I drag my grumpy self out of bed and pout my way through the whole sunrise 😎
