The Lebanese authorities must protect migrant domestic workers trapped in the country after being sacked due to the intensifying economic crisis, Amnesty International said today.
In recent weeks, dozens of Ethiopian women have gathered outside the Ethiopian Consulate in Beirut. This is also happening with Kenyan workers and Gambian workers. Some have been abandoned by their employers, without pay, their belongings, or passports. The Ministry of Labour is responsible for enforcing the unified standard contract, which guarantees migrant workers the right to their wages and accommodation.
As you guys may know, many of my followers are from the Middle East and North Africa, with a particularly high concentration who live in Beirut. I am also a bit more than half Syrian/Lebanese as per DNA test so any goings on in the Middle East I especially like to shed light on. This video was sent to me by @manotopalian. It was taken very far away from ground zero of the explosion and it STILL breaks glass. It takes nearly 16 seconds for the sound to arrive. It's important to note that 50% of the city's hospitals are not open due to severe damage. Additionally the death toll has increased to 220, with over 6000 injured. Also 300,000 people remain homeless. I'll continue to keep you guys updated on this!
A track tailored for the love of Beirut.
To all its beautiful people and marvelous memories, sharing with you all the laughs and tears along the way.
We stand in this together
Remember who YOU are
Remember all you’ve been through
•Always remember we’re hand in hand forever my beloved brothers and sisters•

August 4th, 2020. 6:07pm. A day that changed Beirut FOREVER. It has been 1 week since the Beirut explosion shook the homes of over 300,000 INNOCENT citizens, injured over 7,000 INNOCENT citizens, and killed about 200 INNOCENT citizens. My heart hurts to see the damages done to my beautiful and charming country. My heart hurts for the ones who have lost their loved ones from the explosion. My heart hurts for the ones who have family and friends still missing under the debris and the rubble. I know ONE THING is true
“We will rebuild Beirut. Lebanon will rise again.”🇱🇧💔🙏🏼

Firefighter medic Sahar Fares was killed in the Beirut explosion. The 27-year-old, called to the initial fire in the port, sent her fiancé Gilbert Karaan a video of the flames. Seconds later she was dead.
Her wedding ring was found with her body. Gilbert now wears it around his neck. As one of hundreds now unexpectedly bereft by the blast, he says he feels "numb".
"This girl... she was as strong as a hundred men", he says. "How could she be killed this way?" #repost@bbcnews

I choose to be optimistic and dream of a better Lebanon 💕 regardless of what is currently happening there ✨
Celebrating the beautiful Lebanon & its iconic cuisine for this week’s #Arabites 🇱🇧 The Lebanese kitchen has so much to offer that everyone loves to share, from dips, mezzas to iconic starters like batata 7arra (one of my absolute faves). Last week the world witnessed a terrible tragedy that strongly affected #Beirut . I tagged a few accounts that are helping the Lebanese people during these hard times, if you can support in any way PLEASE DO #PrayForBeirut
