And here comes to magic moment 🌑✨ There are some cars provided for climbing to the top (almost 3$ pp). After arriving the top you need to rent a shawl to cover your body for respect to the religion. Then you can start walking a little bit more to the temple which can be quite tiring in hot days 🥵
If you see the stairs and the long queue after, that means you have arrived 😅 Get in the line and by the time think about your pose. 😎
You are allowed up to 3 poses immediately when its your turn, but it will be quicker than you think.
There are some local boys taking photos, so you can give your phone to them and don’t worry about the rest.

This we discovered when we arrived after a 2.5 hour drive to be handed a number. What is the number for? To wait in a queue, a very long queue, to get your photo taken in 3 different poses, standing between the famous pillars. Of course. And wait and pose the tourists did indeed. For someone who prefers not to be in the picture and who is not willing to wait an hour to take a photo (it was a slow day, some days it’s a 3 hour wait), it was no mean feet to get a people free picture of this famous #balitemple view. Bali is one of the Instagram capitals of the world these days. We have come across posing instagrammers in numbers that certainly have shocked humans of our vintage everywhere we go from the beach, to temples to the pool to the ice cream shop to simply walking down the street dodging scooters. Everything is an opportunity to photograph yourself in 450 different poses. Check photos. Diamond Beach is near two other attractions on Nusa Penida that I highly recommend. Atuh Beach is to the left of Diamond Beach and Thousand Island Viewpoint is to the right. These would all make my top 10 things to do on Nusa Penida so I highly recommend visiting them all on the same day as they are conveniently located. The hot tip is to not put Atuh Beach in your Google Maps. If you park on the left side of Atuh Beach you will then have to do a long drive all the way around. Whereas if you park at Diamond Beach parking lot you can access both beaches from the same parking lot. Thousand Island Viewpoint is then just a two-minute drive away from Diamond Beach parking lot.
All three spots are located on the east side of Nusa Penida and you would be onto a good thing if you made it out to Thousand Island Viewpoint for sunrise and then hit the beaches after. Drive safe, the roads on Nusa Penida aren’t great and I have crashed once on this island before!

The Gates of Heaven. Heavenly, yeah? Sometimes I really want the shot... even though it meant a slow line. 3 hours. 🙈 We ran into friends from the hostel, which was a great surprise. And that beautiful reflection? Totally a reflection in the cell phone of the guy taking the photos. It's actually just a dirt courtyard between the gate and the temple with the stairways in the post before this one. 🤷🏼♀️ #reallife .

Jimbaran is directly south of the airport, on the way from Denpasar towards Nusa Dua. Jimbaran village is the narrow neck of Bali Island, and thus it has two remarkably different beaches. On the west, Jimbaran Beach faces the Jimbaran Bay, recently lined by new luxurious resorts. On the east, the beach faces the body of water sheltered by Benoa Harbor. Jimbaran is a sleepy cove where fleets of fishing boats color the scene. Formerly a relatively quiet area, its image has improved dramatically with the opening of the beautiful Four Season's Resort and the Inter-Continental. The last couple of years, it has become even busier still with grilled seafood restaurants going up at a rapid pace along the beach, attracting local families and tourists in droves.
Located on Bali's west coast, Jimbaran offers a small-secluded beach area, where tranquility and perfect peace is the perfect antidote to a stressful world. From here you can mainly see... queues😅. Queues everywhere of people for taking pics basically😅: the amount of people who come here daily is so insane that the limited space is not even enough for them all! People wait in, outside, around... and spend their time basically queuing for having pictures taken📸.
But this happens nowadays in all the turistic spots of the island, and it's kinda of fascinating and frustrating at the same time for me...😅🤷🏼♀️

Pura Luhur Lempuyang is one of Bali’s nine directional temples and is of great significance to the Balinese culture and religion. Set atop Lempuyang mountain, it’s roughly halfway between Amlapura and Amed as the crow flies. The directional temples radiate around Bali with Pura Luhur Besakih (Mother Temple) at the centre — other directional temples include Uluwatu, Goa Lawah and Pasar Agung. This importance means you’ll often see Balinese families from around the island visiting in full ceremonial attire balancing large baskets of food atop their heads, with the purpose of getting it blessed by the priest at the temple at the top of the mountain. .
