How happy does Boston’s Rochford Tower look in my first photo? It shouldn’t be smiling at all, not when it is in such a bad state of repair, its other side has a huge crack running from top to bottom and its windows falling inwards!
Rochford Tower, in the hamlet of Fishtoft, has stood on this spot since the mid 15th century and was part of a bigger building, built by either Ralph or Henry Rochford between 1445 and 1460. The Rochfords came over during the conquest of England and in time family members fought in France along side John of Gaunt and no less than six of them became High Sheriffs of Lincolnshire in the 14th century.
I've been pretty fortunate to catch both the beginning & ends of each day over the last couple of days. Here's sight of this morning's crescent moon, candyfloss clouds and the silhouette of our fave cathedral. 🌙
This is the final staff highlight. As Tessa does most of my social media. l Shelley, am doing Tess’s write up.
Tess is an integral part of F&P. She quietly organises and without her I would be in a pickle!
The wonderful Tessa! She’s a gifted tarot reader with over 10 years experience, she’s the other part of Spirit Lincs with Darren. She runs all our Spiritual courses too with Darren. Plus she very often at the workshops too. She keeps F&P headquarters spick and span. She has recently taken over the crystal section in the shop, and is keen to expand her already vast knowledge. Tess is a much valued member of the F&P family.
You can contact her on her page for a reading Tessa’s Tarot. #horncastle#flangeandprong#witchesofinstagram#tarot#psychic#pagan#pagansofinstagram#witchesofweststreet#lincolnshire#witchcraftshop#weststreet
My 2020 vision - Monday 20th January. Today is known as Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year. It’s the day you realise that there’s still roughly 7months left until the end of January yet Christmas feels so long ago I’m not even convinced we celebrated it. This morning our dog weed on the stairs (he hasn’t done this since he was a puppy. I have no idea why he did it today!), the cat was sick on the bed and Remy was up and ready for the day a good hour earlier than usual. I was about ready to accept today as a right off so decided to take the smalls out for a dog walk where we had a good 45 minute display from the Red Arrows drawing hearts over and over again for us. So thank you so much @rafredarrows for making our blue Monday just a little bit more bearable. 💛
Today marks one year on Instagram! A big thank you to everyone who has followed, liked or commented on my work, I really do appreciate it. It's been great meeting people on here, and in 'real life' who share my car obsession.
Now a bit about why I started taking photos and using Instagram - I've never been especially 'academic', some of the things others seem to find easy have often been quite a struggle, but I didn't really understand why. Just before starting Instagram I was diagnosed with dyslexia; following this I made a decision to use it to motivate me to intentionally pursue what I enjoy most - creative things, and cars.
Photography is something which has always intrigued me, but until this year I hadn't given it any time. In August I took the plunge and got a 'proper camera'. After fumbling about with it for a bit, I read some photography books and blogs, and watched quite a lot of YouTube - I picked up lots of really useful tips, but also realised how much I have to learn.
This year I'm hoping to really up my skill levels in terms of composing shots, controlling the camera itself and editing, as well as the other crucial bit of photography - working with and getting to know people.
As part of this I'd really like to do some car photo shoots; so if you live in or nearish the east midlands, own a classic, or a sports car, or anything interesting really, and wouldn't mind being a bit of a guinea pig, I would absolutely love to hear from you. Please get in touch!
I'll be amazed if anyone has got this far, but if so, just a quick note about the 550; I've seen a lot of great cars this year, but it's still my all time favourite. I posted one as my 100th post, so it seemed appropriate to start a tradition and put one up for my 200th.
Final thing, I'm changing the name of my account to Matthew Pitts Photography. Love_the_Ride was meant to be a bit of a play on the whole positive messagey-instagrammy-ness, mixed in with cars or 'rides'. Unfortunately it took far too much explaining, so it didn't really work.

Sweet dreams are made of these... perfectly pink upholstery makes our chesterfield inspired Truffle bed as pretty as a picture. We’re offering 15% off this collection in our #WinterSale for a limited time.
The opuntia haven't been watered since October, so they're all looking pretty droopy and wrinkly right now. Bring on the spring, so I can start watering them again! 🌞 I'm looking forward to watching them perk back up within a few of hours of having a drink 🍹
What a glorious weekend! ☀️ so lucky to live in such a lovely place ✨
