I was 12 when my doctor put me on birth control. Because I had these 5 days every month where all I wanted was to lay in bed, my doctor gave me this option.
What I didn’t know is that it wasn’t the best option.
What I didn’t know is that this wouldn’t be a complete solution.
What I didn’t know is that the side effects would impact my body for years to come.
Fast forward a little while and my periods are out of whack, I don’t feel like myself, I’m battling depression, and my psychiatrist is still trying to find the antidepressant that works for me.
...I’m not lying in bed curled in the fetal position as much...but I would go back if I knew “fixing” that would contribute to this.
What I wish I learned then, I’m so grateful I know now.

Instagram and YouTube are filled with makeup routines that take hours and hours, are difficult to repeat, AND you either end up looking either very fake to meet real people, or you look extremely cakey 🤷♀️ .
I reserve the full makeover for parties and night time events, and to be honest, those are best left to the professionals (I will never have enough time to practice getting that winged eye, because I live a life where I have better things to do). .

Vulnerable post: I finally finished my 30 days to healthy living and I felt completely amazing throughout it! I lost 6 pounds and have noticed my clothes fitting a lot better! The best part was that I did not feel bloated at all 😊 This program has shown me different alternatives to meals that I would normally make. Take the first one, for instance: "Stop letting society tell you how to live your life." Society is a powerful foe. Its influence seaps through the movies we watch, the billboards we pass, the news we consume, and the ads we see on the internet, making it difficult to escape at times.
Then you have the second one: "Stop making excuses." This one I also LOVE, but for some people I can understand how they feel their excuses are valid. They reclassify their excuses as "reasons" or "circumstances" and I get it, but the problem is there's always an example of someone with better reasons and worst circumstances that achieve the very thing they claim they cannot.
Then you have the" "Stop relying on others to make you happy" one and this one's a buggy because most people don't even realize that's what they are doing.
Meanwhile, every time they are in a bad mood or they didn't accomplish something, it always seems there is an outside force/person to blame.
We rarely hear "I fucked up big time." PERIOD
"I didn't get that done in time." FULL STOP
"I am unhappy." NO FURTHER COMMENT
Nope, most of the time these statements are followed up with excuses as to why. But I wonder what life would look like if we stopped making excuses and we just took ownership of our actions.
It's gotten so bad that people now expect you to give them a reason for saying no to them or not getting something done.
Actually, it makes me want to challenge myself to just eliminate all rationalizations from my speech for a whole week!

My good friend sent me this picture in the morning and I didn’t even remember it, I remember that time and who I was at that exact moment. I had been serving a 29 years to life with no expectations to ever coming home, not even in my dream did it occur I would be free. I didn’t give a damn about anything or anyone because I was so selfish and resentful. I had lived a messed up life and done horrible things which numbed my soul. I honestly was messed up in my head and had a callous view of life and people. My whole life had been about belonging to something, a bigger cause and I wanted to be accepted with the wrong people so I did whatever it took to belong. I believed in what I believed, and that was my priority. I look back and I can’t believe that was me. I hate that guy. I hate all the things I’ve done wrong and all the people I hurt along the way. Most people never really know what it is to leave a ripple of pain in society. I live a totally different life than in that picture. Simply because I learned something that was completely foreign to Me... REMORSE, it was a word I had never heard of but I learned it the hard way and it shaped me into the person i am today. Today I understand.

Reading more inspires me to write more, and so recently I was thinking a lot about relationships ✨| I believe that in any healthy relationship between two adults - in any love relationship, friendship or a family relation- there are some unspoken rules that make the relation happy and fulfilling or bad and unsupportable.. | People who were raised by emotionally healthy parents, in homes where clear communication was encouraged are usually following these unspoken rules naturally, am I right? However, not everyone was as lucky.. and sometimes, people are simply more tired and stressed, and may forget how to communicate clearly! 😅 But I think the key to any healthy relationship is clear communication, respect and balance - so I wrote a little manual of healthy relationships 101 ( a compact version of 5 years of my psychology studies 😆) something that has been very helpful for me in my life, in my marriage, friendships and with family members too ( I left you link in bio) | And let me know what are your thoughts, and what do YOU think is the key to a happy relationship?✨
I was listening to Oprah’s podcast this morning in the gym and there was an interesting conversation about having the power to choose another thought
So on my way home, I recorded this as I believe it’s an important message to see, understand and try to grasp 💜
Happiness and good feelings are only ever one thought away. They really are! What you need to realise is that we control our thoughts and not the other way around
When you have a bad thought or feeling - which we all do - if you don’t like what you feel, you can choose to have another thought 🙏🏼
Just like when you go shopping and decide you don’t like the dress you’ve just tried on, you can go and choose another one
The key is to recognise and acknowledge the bad thought, instead of letting it manifest, then you can choose to think about something which makes you feel good or happy 💭
