Sanskriti is what we call our culture as, and have grown up following.
But what exactly does Sanskriti mean?
Is it just what we follow and practise during religious festivities, weddings, or in our daily habitat with the clothes that we wear, and the food that we eat?
Well, our Sanskriti goes way back to 2500 BC where it all began as literature states. Imagine having a history that old and a culture flourishing ever since the Indus Valley civilization, how blessed are we!
Now to explain the term Sanskriti, the root word “kr” in the Sanskrit language means “to do”, “Prakriti” meaning a “basic matter or condition”, and Sanskriti meaning a “refined matter or condition”.
But how does it define culture?
To give an example, considering a block of stone as Prakriti - the basic raw matter, when it is sculptured into a beautiful artifact, it becomes Sanskriti.
That’s basically how culture came into existence, with daily findings and practise of people over centuries that created beautiful ways of living. We have come a long way, and with time have developed several other cultural practises suiting the environment. Culture is not just an age-old practise given by our ancestors, or a traditional custom, it’s a way of life. Our culture, our Sanskriti, is in everything around us. It unites people together through shared beliefs, ideas, work practises and expectations.
The Indian Sanskriti comes with various forms, and it is one of the most exotic cultures in the world, that encompasses every aspect of life. As natives of this culture, let’s try to know as much as we can and spread the glorious vibe of our culture around.❤️
