Whelp, this is a post of my first failed summit hike. Longs Peak would have been my first 14er, (14259 ft) but alas altitude sickness got the best of me.
1. Sunrise at the alpine tundra just before Granite Pass
2. Bathed in the warm morning glow
3. But at least I get beautiful views of sheer rock walls
4. And seeing the trail I walked on in complete dark only hours prior
5. Met a new friend
6. And saw an elk on the way back to camp!
The Diamond has nothing on us! 👊🏼 #longspeak
P.S. I would not let Alex free solo on this adventure 😁🧗🏽♂️ 1st picture: (“The Diamond – Long Peak”)

🖤Its National Mountain Day🖤 I lived by the mountains most of my life and love them so much. Here's a picture of Longs Peak in Colorado by @stephen_harker_photo Which mountains do you live by? Check out our website at sweetharkcrafts, com #mountains#longspeak#colorado
So I have decided that within the next two years I want to acquire the experience and level of training required to climb Long Peaks Summit. Ever since I climbed my first mountain in the Appalachians, I have always desired to climb something that would require utmost determination and strength within my mind. It comes with much risk, but anything in life comes with risk. I would love to give it a shot midsummer 2020 but this mountain demands a lot of respect as it has claimed 60+ lives so I might not be ready by then but let the training begin 💪 #HighestPeakOnTheLeft#LongsPeak#KeyholeRoute#14ersofcolorado#14ThousandFeet #ImNamedAfterIt#SoIHaveToClimbIt #MountainClimbing

Glad you decided to hang out with me forever. Also glad you enjoy getting your butt kicked by mountains on a regular basis with me. #colorado#longspeak#rmnp
Classic Knickerbocker makes the turn at Crisanti Curve near Louisville, CO. These critters used to work the Buck Wheat from time to time. It was a real treat to see them. .

Section of a recent commission. I enjoy painting alpenglow because it is a dynamic dance of mixing primary colors and working quickly to encourage the shades to blend. Of the many subjects I paint, creating the sense of glowing light is also one of the most difficult: to retain the luminosity of the colors I complete most of the mountain in a single layer.
A rare mountain funnel cloud, taken from the highest place in Boulder County. "...from the top of Longs Peak looking west of @RockyNPS. This was taken around noon on July 24, 2019.
Photos by: Scott C Garcia [@datscottfactor21]." Tweet by @AndySteinWx. "According to the National Weather Service, the funnel was likely not caused by a supercell thunderstorm, the traditional method for the formation of a tornado. Instead, it was likely caused by a collision of low-level winds that creates a so-called landspout tornado." - Denver Post

Chasm Lake, Colorado. The lake sits at 11,760′, below the stunning face of the Diamond, the sheer and prominent east face of Longs Peak. It's an incredible spot to catch the sunrise...and do some ice skating, if that's your thing. -
