Many times when families find themselves in a situation that calls for making big decisions and planning for long-term care they quickly find themselves overwhelmed and inundated with new terminology and many different options that they typically don’t know or fully understand. We recommend to families to make themselves familiar with resources and options that are available to them so when they do find themselves in that situation they already have an understanding of what’s available to them. #resources#care#planning#family#homecare#longtermcare#help#educate#support#caregivers#LTC#comfort

I am A NURSE, a healer, an advocate. I listen. I empathize. I’m there when families and friends can’t be. I take care of your families as if they were my own. It’s not always smiles and giggles but this is what I chose to do and I love it whole heartedly.

There are A LOT of family caregivers out there. Are you among them? If you know someone who is a caregiver, check in on them. Caregiving can be a thankless and isolating task. Let's take care of each other.
[Image of salmon square with title Caregiving Facts and 2 facts: more than 65 million people, 29% of the US population, provide care for a chronically ill, disabled, or aged family member or friend during any given year and 78% of adults living in the community and in need of long-term care depend on family and friends as their only source of help.] #caregivers#nationalcaregiversday#longtermcare#nationalcaregiversday#wetakecareofeachother#mutualaid#familysupport
🏃🏼♀️It's a marathon, not a sprint -- words we hold close to in therapy. But today, we are crossing finish lines as we witness Ms. Virgie Dronet walking! Back in October of 2019, she got into a horrible life threatening accident that required extensive physical therapy to get her back to good & functioning health. Now, she's been walking 100 feet of distance at a time daily! Congratulations Ms. Virgie. We are SO proud of the hard work and commitment you've given to your health 💪🏻 #successstories#camelotseniorliving

The foundational building block here is that you cared enough to make sure that if you die, grief for your loss won’t be compounded by financial catastrophe. You buy life insurance not because you are going to die, but because those you love are going to live and you want them to be financially okay after you are gone. Do you have life insurance?
Have a great Weekend!

Alzheimer’s Awareness: because you would never look at a photo of my mom & know she has been struggling with this disease for many years..unfortunately I feel like we are left treading in stagnant water with no cure in sight.
I’ve rewritten this post 200+ times. I could remind everyone to exercise & look at processed foods as if they have a poison label (bcuz most should) or this time help shed light on what my mom is going thru.. •
Early Onset is an invisible disability, it is more than just simply not remembering- no one understands why I order for her, why I never let her out of my sight & don’t even get me started on Drs not reading a chart before walking in the room.
Witnessing this disease is by far the most horrific nightmare I could ever imagine. The constant state of fear, confusion & anxiety my mom is in, is heartbreaking. Every day she says she just wants to b normal- yet she says she shouldn’t be upset bcuz there are ppl with worse things (bcuz thats the type of person my mom is) She is aware something is wrong, but there is nothing she can do to “learn” where her room is, how to zip her jacket, remember if she just ate a meal, or how to pronounce words. As a caretaker and daughter it is a constant state of helplessness & the changes are unpredictable and frequent. My mom might be here physically but I lost her some time ago & she has lost her independence. Its a different grieving process. Unfortunately I know it will only get harder from here. • My mom was a personal trainer, doing all the things she thought were healthy & now her parents are part of her care team.
Alzheimers is not normal aging & rates of diagnosis grow by the second..so please research for yourself, for your loved ones.
I’ve learned a lot about myself through this journey. I have always tried to control every little thing in my life but my mom has taught me to stop and enjoy the flowers (she stops to look at every single one) Because nothing is certain & nobody knows what their future looks like.
If you know someone with Alz or a caretaker whose loved one has it- be gentle, be kind, be patient.. for the pain they’re experiencing is far more than they could ever let u know 💜
Happy Fri-YAY Guys!! ⠀
This week has been amazing! I challenged myself to resolve some of the issues I observed within my facility. I work with my facility to ensure that they are in line with Medicare Guidelines which are geared towards improving Geriatric care. One of the things we discussed in the in-service I led was the unnecessary use of psychotropics as well as limiting PRN orders for these medications to 14 days only. I feel that by providing education to the staff I can improve patient care. I don’t expect change to happen over night, but I work to ensure that I constantly educate myself and use what I learn to educate those around me! .⠀
What are some things you are working to change in your current role? What do you feel will help you accomplish your goals? 📋✅⬆️⠀
