🖤👌🏻 Did you know that Lovre have an extra entre? All you have to do is just find entre with shops! And also is Louvre for free when you are 18-26 years old and live in EU states. ✈️❤️ #louvre#tip#traveltip#museum#louvremuseum#paris#france#pyramid#freeenter#loveparis#travel#trip#tynatravel#photo
The Louvre: Part 3- Ancient History: I poured over a lot of Egyptian sarcophaguses- marveled at their sheer weight and what it would have taken to carve them out or even move them. It’s one thing to see pictures, but when one sees them up close, it’s easy to to see chisel marks and patterns. I also saw lots of “oops! wrong angle and pressure” marks as well as left over stencils. Easier to connect to the humanity than the mystery of history by seeing artistic missteps. One sarcophagus had what looked like a comic strip inside of the deceased hanging out with Horus, Anubis etc in his afterlife and his face clearly matched the outside cover. I found that touchingly funny. The massive columns from King Darius’s palace at Susa were impressive and large....trying to imagine a whole building built with them...🤯! Darius I was quite the impressive ruler, but, he did get solidly pummeled at the Battle of Marathon by the Greeks. Presently, we still honor this battle and Pheidippides, by running in marathons across the world. 🤷🏼♀️ #louvremuseum#history#art#marathons #🏃♂️🏃🏽♀️
I was really excited to run across the site-specific Anselm Kiefer pieces at the Louvre. He was the first living artist in over 50 years to install works in the interior. Uses mixed materials: straw, ash, clay, and often lead. #anselmkiefer#germanartists#louvremuseum
