As our season comes to a close, we wanted to share our awards from the 2018-19 season and thank the amazing dogs that helped us earn them.
Nick would like to thank Ruger and Oso (from @heartlandhuskyrescue) for bringing home the gold IFSS World Cup medal for North America in men’s canicross, as well as the ISDRA gold medal for men’s canicross. This was a very special season as Ruger was Nick’s first canicross dog, and winning these awards with his help was such an honor and a special memory. #nsdcanixteam
@joymweis would like to thank Denali, Oso, and Prudhoe for helping her bring home the ISDRA gold medal for women’s canicross. Denali (from @waysidewaifs) was Joy’s first running partner, and Joy and Prudhoe (from @petangelsrescue) have overcome some very large trust obstacles together. Having these dogs on her team is very special to Joy, and she’s excited to see what the coming seasons bring.
We are so proud of each of our dogs and their talents. We couldn’t ask for better friends or running partners. A huge thank you to @nonstopdogwear for their support!
It has taken 9 months to get to this point. Kalea is not very accepting of new dogs in her space and especially her home. It took her a year and half to finally accept and tolerate Pixie and she's been just as stubborn when it's come to accepting Kaia as part of the family. She definitely would have been happy being an only child her whole life. But with lots of patience and work, Kalea is finally ok walking side by side with Kaia without showing any signs if aggression or discomfort. This may not seem to be a big deal to others, but when all of your dogs are rescues that each have their own emotional and/or physical trauma and baggage, it can be very difficult for them to accept any type of change or new person/animal in their safe place. We are very proud of the leaps and bounds these 2 have come in their relationship especially because Kaia loves her big sister and tries every single day to get Kalea to love her back. She's always trying to sneak a kiss or a cuddle when Kalea isn't expecting it. We just hope that Kalea will fully accept Kaia as part of the pack before she's no longer with us anymore 💖💖 #kaianovalandcloud#kaleaskye#husky#siberianhusky#huskiesofinstagram#malamute#alaskanmalamute#malamutesofinstagram#huskamute#adoptdontshop#rescue#pupper#senior#family#sisters#love#dogsofinstagram
Thank you for understanding our sudden shortened hours on Friday, and our unexpected closure this past Saturday.
We closed on Saturday because one of our sweet brew dogs was in desperate need of emergency medical care.
Our girl Keira is in the ICU at the University of Guelph, Ontario Veterinary College Companion Animal Hospital with a severe pneumonia. Luckily it was caught early enough that we are hopeful that she will recover.
It's been a rough road for our beautiful girl …. IV antibiotics, ex-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, tracheal wash/scope, oxygen support, feeding tube. Separation anxiety for all of us!!!!! A huge thank you to the OVC Companion Animal Hospital for all of their help as well as the emergency vet clinic of Waterloo Region for referring our girl for critical care.
