Name the species! 🐙 so CUTE! Via @theocean
Check out this tiny octopus, whose body measured about five centimeters across. He was spotted swimming along at a depth of 825 meters as @noaaoceanexploration explored Whiting Seamount, off of Puerto Rico on April 29, 2015.

Easily mistaken for food, marine plastic – which comes primarily from land-based sources - is ingested by fish and ocean mammals.⠀
The ocean is the single largest source of the world’s protein. Contamination of the ocean is thus a contamination of ourselves.⠀
NOTSO supports the reduction in single use plastics and promotes awareness among the team #reduceplasticwaste

It was a feeding frenzy off the shore of Point Sal State Beach, CA! Humpback whales and dolphins were chasing a pretty big bait ball through the water, darting in and out of it. When the dolphin swims right side up, all the light from the surface causes it to not see its prey as well as when it's upside down. When it swims upside down, the light still comes from the surface of the water, but instead of shining directly into the dolphin's eyes, it gets reflected off the skin of the prey. It was amazing to see!

“I’m forever grateful for the absolute privilege of working for more than a decade with one of the great whale skippers, @alitakau . Ali regularly drops me into mind-blowing situations (like this one) — and he does it with care, dexterity and with consummate skill. His uncanny feel for behaviour comes from deep within, and his love of Tonga, and for the whales, is evidenced by his passion for the work.
This drop is a perfect example of his ability— a train of whales zigging and zagging at high speed across a deep ocean, and one tiny shallow reef approaching well ahead. Amongst the swells and wind-waves, and harnessing the patience of the ocean, he works us into position, keeping us clawing the edge of anticipation. Then it’s a perfectly timed indawataindawataindawata call and from that moment I’m left to hold up my end of the bargain.
It’s an undeniable truth that without Ali I would have many beautiful photos of empty seas.” #wildestoceans
Everyone has travelled to the Chapora fort for those spectacular sunset views. This time let's skip the touristy bit and head to Chicolna (near Bogmalo beach in the South) for its heart-shaped lagoon and the splendid sunset view.
There are two paths from Bogmalo once you enter - one leading downwards and the other upwards. You can use Google maps but also ask people around who live there for exact location.
Follow the path that leads downwards and you’ll reach an exquisite lagoon with sparkling clean blue waters.
The path that leads upwards, leads to the cliff also called ‘Yes Point or Suicide Point’. If you stand at the out edge, you’re offered a 180 degree view of the ocean and surrounding coastal area, looking all the way up to Majorda on the South and Vasco on the North. *One can definitely make it a memorable and a romantic experience!
