5 years ago I felt so trapped on a day to day basis. I know getting up on Mondays and going to work is what *most* people do - but I was so tired of being most people!! .
When I was asked to start my “online side gig” - that’s what I called It because there was NO WAY it would ever be a full time thing - right?! - I said no. I was a skeptic. I didn’t have time. I wasn’t a salesperson. I’m too shy and introverted. I didn’t know anyone. I had never done something like this before. And I honestly didn’t believe in myself!! .
But then I watched a friend with the same excuses as me THRIVE with this and I said “what if I could just make enough each month to pay my student loan payments?!” That’s why I started! An extra $450. And that goal was crushed a month and a half into starting. .
10 months later I was making more than my full time job and 13 months after starting I saw my first 5 figure monthly paycheck. I KNOW this seems unreal. I know it seems too good to be true. I felt that SAME EXACT WAY. .
But what if it wasn’t?! What if you could have the same success I am with this?! What if you never try and continue living feeling trapped like I did?! .
Fear held me back for 6 months of saying I can’t do this - until I jumped in and tried. What if I never would have tried?! What if you try and climb to the top with me?! You’ll never know until you START!! .

•Why did the doctor seem surprised when I said I had a masters degree?•
•why did the doctor seem surprised I wanted to medicate him when he has A’s & B’s?•
•Why did the doctor seem surprised when I knew what was going on with my kid & how meds affect kids with adhd?•
•yes I’m a single mom. Yes I’m educated. I have a masters degree in sports administration & contemplating a second. I have been working with kids for almost 20 years. Yes I know my kid has adhd. He’s had it probably most of his life. I’ve avoided meds because it’s been tolerable and I didn’t want him labeled. He has good grades because I stay on him. He needs meds because he can’t sit still & doesn’t stop talking. The only thing that will work at this point is meds. We’ve done alternative treatments. I’ve done a million things to help, he needs meds. I’ve seen all the side effects of the meds and it’s still the best choice for him.• •Please don’t be surprised that a parent, a single parent, a single mom, can be/is educated and knowledgeable. Just because I can’t write the dosage, I em seen more kids diagnosed with ADHD than most. I know kids. I know my kid. I know ADHD. Also yes I know he probably got it from me.• #adhd#faceofadhd#goodgrades#stillhaveadhd#medswork#somekidsneedmedicated#singlemom#educated#mastersdegree#singleparent#mentalhealth#school#elementaryschool

Reposted from @_theaclguy (@get_regrann) - Little piece I wrote on hamstring training for @physionetwork .
5 ways to bulletproof the hamstrings 🔥
1. Regular and graded exposure to high speed running (aim to hit max velocity 2 x a week; sprints over 30-50m to ensure max velocity is reached; and total sprint distance per session around 100-300m depending on your current tolerance to sprinting) 🏃♂️
2. Proper running mechanics - don’t overstride which puts excess stress on the hamstring, and avoid excessive pelvic motion during running as dropping into anterior pelvic tilt also puts extra stress on the hamstrings (this is why a lumbopelvic stability program can work well) 🏃♀️
3. Strengthen the hammies in a variety of ways: 💪
-eccentrically e.g. Nordics
-isometrically e.g. long lever hamstring bridge holds
-at low velocity e.g. Nordics, Romanian deadlifts
-at high velocity e.g. Romanian deadlift drop and catches, glute ham drop and catch, long lever hamstring switches
-in hip dominant movements e.g. Romanian deadlifts
-in knee dominant movements e.g. Nordics, leg curls
4. Ensure training is planned well - e.g. try to avoid high speed running exposure on the same day after gym. Try get sprinting done before gym or put it on the next day. This is because sprinting after lower body gym work can increase the risk of hamstring strains as the lower limb muscles are fatigued 🗓
5. Don’t ignore warning signs of extra tightness in the hammies than normal, especially if this tightness is on one side only 🙅♂️
Notice how this post didn’t say “just do Nordics” 😂
Shoutout to Stephanie for making it into the Journal of Business as well as the Spokesman! She crushing it in her new job (never had a doubt here) and TOMORROW she’ll be defending her THESIS!! I’m so proud of her and her huge accomplishments. Here’s to many more! #gonzaga#mastersdegree#crushingit#accomplishment#ewualumni#ewu
YOU GUYS. My thesis won the DEAN'S AWARD!!!! I was so humbled that my university thought my work was worthy of submission in the first place, but I can't believe it won! Only ONE thesis is picked every year! Oh, my heart can only take so much! ❤❤❤ So grateful for everyone who supported me throughout my thesis work. I couldn't have done it without you. (Yes, you!)

After being a ball of nerves for weeks leading up to my Masters thesis defense, it was a relief to not only get it done with but have had the opportunity to experience a very successful defense. All the things I had hoped my committee would say about my paper, they said. So we popped champagne of course! This dress was part of a shopping guide on Down in the Hollow a few weeks ago and it was so professional and sleek to wear to my defense. #TBT Fact about me: I have 3 college degrees and a professional certification and I paid $0.00 for my education. Wanna know how I did it? Well, I took the advice that a mentor gave me when I was in high school. He told me to find an employer that would pay for my education. So I did. Completing three degree programs while working a full-time job was a tough & long road. But short and easy doesn’t build character 🤷🏽♀️ Thanks to this sage advice, I finished school with honors ( #SummaCumLaude ) and NO DEBT. •
👩🏽🎓 1st pic - When I received my B.A. in Communication & Media
👩🏽🎓 2nd pic - When I got my Masters in Business Management & Leadership
👩🏽🎓 Missing pic - My first degree is an Associates in Liberal Arts (at the time this was thought of to be a lesser degree for those that didn’t have direction)
All it took was 21 days, 10 pounds lost, a whole lot of confidence gained...& I was hooked for life.⠀
In February of 2018, I committed to workout & eat healthy for just 21 days.⠀
Those 21 days gave me the habits I needed to eventually lose 40 pounds and keep it off.⠀
They’re the reason I’m still here, showing up every day and feeling more confident than I ever have.⠀
21 days is enough time for you to build a habit, lose 5-10lbs, have more energy, and lose the insecurities.⠀
21 days could change your health & fitness for good.⠀
So I’m committing to going all-in for the next 21 days until Christmas because I KNOW on Christmas morning I want to feel strong & capable & proud!⠀
IMAGINE what would happen if you spent just 21 days actively working on bettering yourself. Imagine how you’d feel when you reach those 5 pounds you wanted to lose, when you have more energy, when you feel confident & proud of the woman you see in the mirror.⠀
Give yourself just three weeks of going all in, & you’ll be surprised how far you can go. I dare you 😘

My sussie, baie baie geluk met jou MEESTERS graad! 🌸
Baie baie geluk sussie!!! Jy het hom! 🎓
The face of someone who is officially D O N E with grad school! 🥳✔️ Just submitted my very last assignment —feels pretty crazy to actually be finished. Graduation is next weekend! 🎓I’m sure I’ll share a sappy post about it soon (as I tend to do 😅) but for now, just breathing a sigh of relief that it’s over! 🤸🏼♀️
