At this point it's more like a weekly dev blog, but hey ho. So all the main mesh work is done for the Pegaus map now. I've been scattering defences around, using a map drawn up by Major John Howard himself, as seen in picture one. Glider #1 piercing the first line of wire. I also added in another roadblock leaving the area, next to the pillbox. The house that couldn't be fixed has just been replaced with a whole new house, and honestly I think it looks much better. What also looks better is the brand new, very detailed, guard building. I spent hours and hours searching for images of this thing to build this model. It's paid off, it looks much better than what was there originally.
Let's cross the river. The house under construction now has bits of lumber scattered but still could do with a few more pieces. I've added lots of foliage on this side of the river, and a few stone walls between the Gondrée and this little road. As seen in picture 8. Also added some concrete walls to mark the entrance, enclosed in trees. Foliage has been added all around but still needs more.
The Canal de Caen has been extended massively, as has the whole terrain, to give a better illusion of realism. Our last picture shows the map using the night skybox. I added in a directional light to make it a tiny bit brighter and make the shadows look better. It's easier to notice in the day but it looks good!
Now I just need to place a few odd props: barrels, crates, etc. And finish the foliage and we'll have a complete map - ready for the tricky stuff.
I'll try and get another one of these out before the week is over.
