What a great experience to visiting Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins!
I have an opportunity to learning a lot about Mayan Cultural that I haven’t learn from school. I learned about Mayan have a sport that is sort like as mix of Basketball and Soccer together that is using 10 pounds of rubber ball. Mayans don’t using hands, but using arms or thighs to pass other Mayan athlete with rubber ball to score by hoop that is like as Basketball.
There are so many things to learn about Mayan Ruins and Mayan Cultural.
FUN FACT: This stair is took 91 steps to get top of the Mayan Ruin.
It was so cool experience to see beautiful Mayan Ruins!

As a little girl I wanted to be an archeologist. I would buy big coffee table books about Egypt while on vacation and cry until mom broke down and put them in her luggage. Those books are still on my bookshelf today. My 12 year old self was so excited for this trip. You’re right, this is not Egypt, but another ancient civilization that is much closer to home!! 🗺✈️
We’re at the Mayan Ruins at Coba on Mexico’s Yucatán peninsula. More specifically, this is the Nohoch Mul pyramid. It’s about 30 miles away from where we were staying in Tulum.
These steps were not easy to climb, but so worth the view. 💪🏻
Constructed in between the 8th and 12th century, the Temple of Kukulkan is the famous pyramid which dominates the site of Chichen Itza in Yucatan, and one of the most visited locations in Mexico. Every year, during the Spring and Autumn Equinox, sunrays creates a shadow across the Kukulkan Pyramid that gives the appearance of a serpent slithering down the staircase; and if you clap in front of the pyramid it creates an echo resembling a serpent’s chirp. Chichen Itza is classified as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and in 1988 was enlisted as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Mayan excursion day exploring a Mayan Village, Xenote, and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World - Chichen-Itza!

The chichen itza was built by both mayans and toltecs.
It represents the Mayan calendar as the pyramid has 4 sides and each side has 91 steps.
These 4 sides represents the 4 seasons.
All the steps combine 91x4=364.
At the top is one big step that all 4 sides share bringing the total to 365 steps representing the calendar year.
