Okay, I’m not technically on strike — I had the day off, but I’m gonna talk about it anyway. Buckle in, y’all.
I’ve long been a sideline supporter of the environmental movement. I was raised by pretty eco-conscious parents. Taught to always turn the lights off when leaving a room, not to waste water, what & where to recycle. As a kid, I assumed everyone brought their own bags to the grocery store because my mom ALWAYS did.
But I couldn’t call myself an activist because despite my deep love of the Earth & my belief that we humans have a responsibility to clean up our own mess & take better care of our shared home, I never did much to act on these values. It’s time for that to change.
As I sit once again in this beautiful park, grateful to enjoy so much green space in my little hometown, I have to acknowledge 3 things:
1) I am an individual with a lot of privilege.
2) I have the ability to adopt a lifestyle that is better for the planet, & I am working to make those changes.
3) I have an obligation to use my resources to work for bigger systemic change, & that change is an absolute necessity.
Who’s ready to do the work with me?

Our story of being ”processed” and feeling the call to St. Louis is profiled here by @justin_eandrews from channel 4 KMOV. He wonderfully captured our heart and purpose.
While I was desirous if leaving the area and never returning, I couldn’t deny the overwhelming pull back to St. Louis. Literally, God spoke to my heart that St. Louis was on his mind and multifaceted revival would come to St. Louis.
We are here, and through many iterations we have seen God move and make a way. Get ready STL...you are on the clock! #metroeast#metrostl#collinsville#eaststlouis#revival#kingdom#vision2020

Belleville is a brick beauty. Just some neighborhoods that are all brick from the streets, to sidewalks, alleys, driveways, and the houses. Explored the areas surrounding downtown. Belleville along with many of the surrounding communities had a very high German population (including my family - my dad was born there) and the architecture seems to reflect that. Belleville was founded in 1814 by a Scot named George Blair but by the 1870s the city was nearly 90% German or of German decent. The spike in the German population pretty much seemed to coincide with St Louis' spike in German immigrants. Basically immigrating following the failed German revolution of 1848. I'm not sure this is a good example of German Street houses but I'm attracted to these simple brick beauties. #belleville#illinois#metrostl#metroeast#oldhouse#oldhouselove#oldhousecharm#architecture#vernaculararchitecture#brickhouse#paintedbrick#brickroad
The window sign says Garfield Street Saloon. However that has closed and it seems the building was bought by the Belleville Historical Society and is an event venue and will be turned into a museum for the city's brewing history. Corner of Mascoutah and Garfield. The building was built in 1894-95 by Adam Gintz. Gintz was then the president of the Western Brewing Company, which created Stag Beer and brewed it in Belleville until 1988. He leased the building to the Brewing Company, guaranteeing exclusive sales of Western Brewery products at that location. #belleville#illinois#metrostl#metroeast#brickbuilding#coolcorners#architecture#history#cornerbuilding#saloon
