Terry’s Chocolate Orange ( @terryschocolateorange ) was one of my favorite sweets growing up. My sister and I always got one in our stockings for Christmas. Anyone else?? I love those things 😋 Well, it’s not exactly holiday season now, so I can’t go out and find a chocolate orange ... but I can use them as inspo for today’s post-workout snack!
Clementines dipped in Lily’s chocolate, crushed hazelnut on some (I really wanted flaky salt but didn’t have any so I improvised- story of my life 😆)
Ps: I also had the sweetest, hugest, juice-dripping-to-my-elbows peach, as soon as I walked in from my bike ride. No picture bc I devoured it but it was totally worth a mention. Always a good reminder to buy local and seasonal produce. It’s so good, especially in summer!!
My August mantra is follow your gut.
I have found that my mind let lose will constantly sabotage my goals, while my heart will overwell me with emotions from past and future, clouding my goals. But fuck... when I listen to my gut, it’s the ultimate act of truth and honesty.
Take for example today.. to run or not to run?
You should have listened to the bullshit list of pussy excuses my mind was telling me from “its to hot and humid”, “it’s the peak heat time of the day”, and wait.. this is a good one ...”all your races for 2020 are canceled so why run”...
Then my heart told me... “sure go running .. you will be suffering and uncomfortable but hey when you are done you will feel empowered”... All emotions and feelings, not good or bad, but with no direction and easily taken out of perspective.
My gut simply told me: RUN!
So I did... I had a brief meditation while my @garmin synced to feel the heat and to drop my heart rate ... and then I started running. FYI, I love that moment of focus before I hit start on my garmin. It sets the intension for the hours ahead of me.
Sure I was uncomfortable and hot some parts of my run... BUT I also felt strong and mindful for the entire run! I had a solid 10 miler run keeping my heart in zone 2 to avoid adding extra heat stress.
Thank you my mantra and I hope this helps you if your feeling a bit lost in 2020. A year when you have zero control of your future... all you got is how your intuition will keep you safe and happy in the present now.
