I feel like I JUST got back from a work trip to Chicago and now while everyone else is prepping for Thanksgiving, I'm packing again to head to London! Finally getting around to sharing what I packed for my Chicago trip—5 days, 3 work events, and a snowstorm all in one backpack! The trick is to only pack items you know you’ll be able to wear in three situations.
It's definitely harder to stick to one bag in the winter weather. See everything I packed in my latest post along with what I should have left at home and my MVP (most valuable piece).⠀
We’ve been working the last few months to refine our packaging and we’re finally there. No plastic, no bubble wrap, no foam. Only recyclable, lightweight materials. We realize any packing material has an impact on the planet but we’re doing everything we can to minimize it. #minimalpacking
Hello from yet another hotel - you know what that means! There's a packing list coming your way 🤓
I'm away from home for 3 days (2 nights) and this is what I brought:
My trusty #thrifted blazer (of course)
My favourite pants (for the faux suit look)😎
Blue top #thrifted black skirt
White&neutral pinks blouse
A bunch of socks and underwear
Toiletries (including my trusty shampoo bar & conditioner bar)
Sports attire & shoes
Old fast fashion wine red top
Old fast fashion skirt that I've hemmed because it was too long to comfortably walk in
Old fast fashion ankle boots
Grumpy face because I'm hungry 😅
Two more nights until we leave for a family vacation to the East Coast. The girls are just a LITTLE bit excited. Other than a toiletries bag, they're all packed. We're doing carry on luggage only. Using packing cubes after giving them a test run on my last trip. So impressed with how they keep things organized and easy to use.
Excited to get away with the family. Now just need to beat back this chest cold.
1. Pics in order show Swissgear 19" carry ons (for the girls) with USB capability. Not packing batteries in their bags since Eric and I will have our back ups with us. Their REI Tarn 18 backpacks slip over the handles perfectly if you close and tighten the chest clips.
2. Got the packing cubes on Amazon. They have this little message 'Wish you have a colorful life.' Awwww.
3. Still plenty of room on the shoe side. Will add a jacket, non-liquid toiletries, and maybe some Crocs for hot tub/pool.
4. Aloha bags were a gift from a friend. I used fabric markers to write their names. Will carry pencils, pens, and markers to go in their backpack.
I am almost done packing. What’s one thing you can’t fly/travel without ? .
Australia is where I will be calling home for the next few months. Keep me in your du3as/prayers. #newadventuresawait .
I am proud of myself for not buying extra kg as I always do. #minimalpacking .

Shopping, tea and vegan muffins in the former capital city of the Inca empire. A rather comfortable change of scenery from the jungle city of Pucallpa where I was before. Not only because of the much cooler temperatures but also the abundance of westerner friendly spots for food and shopping. Travelling with hand luggage only (yes I managed to do that for a five week trip!) has made it very hard to avoid buying all the most amazing alpaca wool goods in very reasonable prices..nevertheless I couldn’t resist..I’m planning to wear it all on my way flying back through Lima/Madrid, hat and everything...it’s going to be a hot long haul..🦙🦙🦙
Summer may be over but my love for this print sure isn’t 🍉🍦

Low waste swap: shampoo bar . . .
There used to be a whole colony of bottles in the corner of my shower. Now I just have this and a bar of soap and apart from the plastic reduction, it's so much more visually satisfying! . . .
I don't use conditioner at the moment because my hair is short, so can't speak for solid conditioner, but I LOVE this bar of shampoo. There are more and more options popping now- @lush , or @ethiqueworld at Holland and Barrett, or @friendlysoapltd which is a cheaper option. Mine is from D. R. Harris in St James; my brother gets some shaving bits there and told me he'd seen them. It came in just under £10 but will last me a year at least at this rate, so good value in my books! . . .
It's also very gentle- it doesn't use SLS or SLeS, which I'm not dead set against but can be a bit harsh. Instead it uses sodium coco sulphate, a similar but gentler surfactant. It's NOT just a soap. I've tried plain soap on my hair and I don't get on with it. This bar took a couple of washes to get used to because it doesn't strip my hair as much as my previous shampoo did, but now I love the feel it gives and find "regular" shampoo too harsh
. . .
I travel a lot, mostly around the UK for study, and it's been really convenient for that too- just a little tin I can throw in my bag, and not worry about it leaking
I'm currently on my summer vacation 🌞and tried to pack as minimal and little as possible. I only have hand luggage for two weeks🙈 which is quite challenging.
It helps that I have a few things in a solid 🧼 form already: hair shampoo (@lush), hair conditioner (@fischersund), body shampoo (@urd_scents) and body lotion (@chagrinvalleysoap). My SPF is quite old (plastic package), I like the Bioeffect serum 🧪, but unfortunately, there is no way of refilling right now even though it's made in Iceland.
I love the washcloth 🧽to remove makeup and Creme and also the Muslin cloth for drying my face (changing it out every 2-3) days.
I always learn from trips on how I can pack even less and safe space and weight in my baggage. Now I got a few solid things in lush that will help me get over the next coming winter month ☃️ in Iceland.
All clothes I wore (see the #iworeitagain hashtag!) are: - navy paper plane pants (old #fastfasion )
- navy blazer ( #thrifted )
- black wrap-style skirt (thrifted)
- blue top (very old fast fashion)
- white tee with paper planes (old fast fashion)
Unworn items: - pink top (old H&M conscious collection from before I knew better)
- black & white printed skirt (old fast fashion)
- white & pinks printed blouse (old fast fashion)
- black tee ( #sustainablefashion and #ethicalfashion )
Packing again! I'll be traveling for work for a few days next week, which means I'm switching up my backpack for a suitcase.
Usually I spend no more than 2 nights away, but now it's 3 and my standard stuff-everything-into-1-packing-cube approach doesn't work anymore lol😂 so suitcase it is!
What I packed for a week to France! Spoiler alert: I packed too much😅
Top row | hiking stuff: hiking shoes (in the bag), solar power bank (not used), a light layer (not used), zip-off pants, 2 merino wool shirts (used 1), 2 pairs of merino socks (used 1). Second row | accessories etc: hammam towel (not used), scarf (not used), 2 bags (not used) and a belt (not used)
Third row | shoes: packing cube (which held sneakers & sandals), sneakers, sandals, flip flops (in bag) and wedges. I wore all of them multiple times.
Fourth row | clothes: packing cube with underwear & socks, blue top, navy paper plane print pants, navy blazer. These 3 items are definitely my most worn items!
Fifth row | clothes: striped dress, striped top, black&white skirt, green patagonia pants (all worn 1 or 2 times) and a dress and 2 shorts (not worn at all)
Not pictured | last-day travel outfit: a long cardi (worn once), black tee (worn several times) and grey shorts (worn several times) because I was wearing that.
I'll post some close-ups in my stories!
All except the hiking clothes (but including hiking boots) fit in my 40 litre backpack - packing cubes are THE best😎
MINIMAL PACKING GUIDE UPDATE: BERLIN
I try hard to bring a backpack only on every trip I take.
Packing light is a fun challenge and one I’ve never regretted. Europe calls for higher fashion standards so trying to blend cute AND functional is always tough.
5 days in Berlin... in the winter? 🌲☕️🧣🦃❄️⛄️
Mission accomplished! 💯
If you want to know more about what I packed / how / why and packing tips, there’s a link in my bio! #minimalpacking#makingthemostofthepersonalcarryonrule#berlin#wintertravel#minimaltravel#weekendgetaway
Here’s what I brought with me on a 11-day trip. Me and my parents started from Vegas, then DC, and ended up in New York.
This post is an overview of what’s in my carryon suitcase and my mini backpack. I will have more detailed posts on each section.
I used everything I brought except for one thing—real technique blender. Was planing to use it with @gloosier stretch concealer. But I ended up using my finger instead.😅
For such a minimalistic (for me) packing I did have something I wish I had with me. And those are:
1. My bullet journal: 🤦🏻♀️I thought I could just make notes on my phone. Boy oh boy this was my biggest regrets! I missed it so much!
2. Kindle: I did have too much time on flights that I thought I would just sleep through.
3. Hand cream: Vegas is extremely dry; DC and NY are just cold and dry. -

This is all of the stuff that I wish I would have left at home when I went to Bali. An extra thing here or there doesn’t seem like a lot, but the items add up. Just looking at all of it in one place makes me think “Holy cow, that would have freed up so much space, and lightened my load!” Not pictured here is the red sleeveless shirt, blue and white sleeveless shirt, and green dress that I took, but have already donated. I’ve been making the transition to minimalism for over a year now, and it’s a never ending process. Just when you think you’re close to having just what you need you find a few more things that you think, why do I still have this? Over on the blog I share my ENTIRE packing list, and not only that but I go through each item and share whether I couldn’t have made it without that item or if I really wish I would have just left it at home. What are your travel must haves? Are there any items that you bring time and time again only to think, why did I bring this? Read the entire blog post: http://bit.ly/2m8GYuA
