My word for this year was "balance" and it's taken my whole life to try and figure out it's ingredients but I think I have a good mixture right now. 👩🍳 It's a base of equal parts exercise, creating, and lots of sleep. Then add a little dash of revenge, with a heavy pour of laughter, a big dose of travel and learning new things, with a touch of alone time. Don't forget it's half a cup of collaborations, and half a cup of seeing old friends, and a generous scoop of giving back, with a garnish of not giving too much of a fuck. It's a delicious recipe. Would love to know what Afams balance recipe is! Let me know in the comments below 😊

“For the sake of this beautiful scene I decided to wet my feet in the ice water of Lake Ladoga - as it turned out, it is no warmer than the Atlantic Ocean in Iceland!” - @_ladyberg_ and @klimakovphoto

"Shutter speed is a powerful creative tool for the photographer, allowing huge amounts of control to impact the final image. I shot NFL football for over 15 years in my newspaper days, and I learned an important rule in sports photography which translates to the world of wildlife photography and other areas where you are capturing a moving subject: when trying to “freeze” motion, it usually takes a shutter setting of 1/500th of a second to really start to stop motion. 1/500th of a second is great for photographing someone running." - Olympus Visionary @jaydickmanphoto

“This mother and cub rounded up a very special day for us and they just kept giving. Initially cautious, she took some 30 minutes to come close to the ship, circling and sniffing us at every opportunity. Everyone was quiet on board and the ship was silent so we were showing her maximum respect. Once she'd decided we were ok though she brought the cub over and all round the ship, eventually sitting down and watching as the cub explored by itself. Because I was using the super light and portable Olympus 300mm I could lay down and use the lowest parts of the ship to poke the lens through. No one else with a big lens could do this and it was such an advantage.” - @wildmanrouse
