Growing up so close to DC, I never really gave it much thought as a city to live in if I wasn’t interested in politics. I’ve since heard the city described as “Washington” and “DC”. Washington is what’s in the news and DC is what the locals know it to be. Full of great food, culture, incredible rooftop bars, and a soulcycle studio pretty much on every block (🙌🏼). So many of my best memories have been in DC and I love calling it home! #hellohotelhive#modushotels

We the people... THAT is my favorite part about working for @modushotels. Another one of our core values is to Build a Positive Team. It’s not easy and takes careful hiring, tough feedback, and a whole lot of time and effort but creating a positive culture full of people wanting to elevate each other, our brand, and our company makes all the difference. These are just some of the people that make coming to work every day so much fun. #hellohotelhive#modushotels
@hotelhive is just one of the hotels managed @modushotels. They manage lifestyle hotels not only in DC but Virginia, Philly, and Chicago, too! Working for Modus is great because they don’t just talk the talk with their core values… they walk the walk (or ride the bike in some cases). Serving Others is definitely one of my favorites of our core values and each year, Modus lives that out by participating in the annual @cycleforsurvival fundraising event that raises money for @sloankettering and their life-saving cancer research! Our team has raised 216K to date!! Follow me (@thedavidgeyer) to stay tuned for ways to donate and get involved as we’ve officially claimed our bikes for the 2020 ride! #hellohotelhive#modushotels

Welcome to @hotelhive, DC’s first micro hotel. Mixing smart design with the unexpected, The Hive unites modern innovation with historic character. Our building was built in 1901 and opened its doors as Hive in 2017. Our 83 rooms range in size from 125-250 square feet. We’ve partnered with the DC-born anti-establishment establishment, @andpizza, for all of our food and beverage (If you’ve not had the American Honey you are severely missing out). We’ve also got a rooftop bar featuring draft cocktails and pizza! #hellohotelhive#modushotels

Good morning, PSHRS! My name is David Geyer and I’m stoked to be hosting this week’s #TakeoverTuesday ! I graduated from Penn State in May 2018 and I’ve been in (and loving) Washington, DC since. I am the Assistant Guest Relations Manager at DC’s first micro hotel, @hotelhive (one of the @modushotels properties). I interned at this property the summer leading into my senior year and returned post-grad to help lead the guest services team. While in SHM, I was heavily involved with the Meetings and Events Club (@pennstatemec)serving as President during their first year overseeing the Pineapple Gala. I loved my time at Penn State thanks largely to my awesome classmates and friends. I’m excited to answer all your questions and let you know what the buzz is all about! #hellohotelhive#modushotels

I'm in Washington, DC, this week and am trying to intersperse some neighborhood exploration with all the "usual" sightseeing in the US capital. Today I spent a couple hours in Georgetown, the oldest part of DC (in fact it existed before DC was even created!). I loved stumbling upon this lock system! How pretty is this?
I'm enjoying staying at @thenormandyhotel here in DC, which is in between two other cool neighborhoods: DuPont Circle and Adams Morgan. Can't wait to explore more this week!

Another very cool and colorful neighborhood in Washington, DC? Adams Morgan! This is a shot of 18th Street, which is lined with bars and restaurants representing a huge variety of different flavors and cultures. The buxom redhead here is the symbol of a bar called Madam's Organ - and redheads drink for half-off!
This neighborhood is just a short walk from @thenormandyhotel, where I stayed for the last two nights. I'm really liking this part of DC! This city's museums and memorials are great, but there's so much more to see.
And now for an obligatory Washington, DC, National Mall photo! In the front are the fountains of the National WWII Memorial and behind is the Washington Monument. I don't care how touristy it is (and went out despite the heat today) - the National Mall is seriously impressive! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Another big thanks to @thenormandyhotel for hosting me for a couple of nights here in DC (and for my friend Katie hosting me the rest of the time!). If you're looking for a cool boutique option in the US capital, check out the #ModusHotels line!
