I occasionally wonder what my favorite backcountry campsites look like this time of year. How desolate they must appear, devoid of humans once again. The animals and plant-life have regained their solitude. 🦌 🌲 🌊 My mind’s eye pictures me walking down the wet, sleek hiking trails and I secretly stay, invisible to the wide-eyed deer and the crashing ocean.
Seems like this is a lot of folks’ favorite trail. I get so drawn to the gorge I really don’t hike in Forest Park all that much- but I do love this trail!
Did you enter the giveaway in my previous post yet?! You could win lots of goodies from 6 different Portland makers!
We didn’t get to see the horse 🐎
Kaie adventure day 3 location 3
This was by far our longest day. Earlier that day we were at Zion, drove to Horseshoe, then Monument Valley. We made it to the entrance when the Navajo told us the scenic drive was to close in 10 mins. Thankfully enough , this point was only about 7 min in driving 50mph on a dirt road. The horse was already resting by the time we parked but we took our time and enjoyed the view even though it was 20* outside 🥶 #kaieadventures
The last bloom from our myrtle tree. This myrtle tree is something special, it blooms in the early spring, summer and once again in the fall. As winter approaches it's buds dry out, but they're still magical. Myrtle leaves change into beautiful colors of red, orange and brown. Oh sweet myrtle tree, you have our hearts.
That warm and fuzzy Christmas feeling is starting to take hold. You know what I'm talking about, right?!? The little frosty winter butterfly in your stomach all excited about the holiday magic, longing not so patiently for the festive feast shared with the nearest and dearest, the Christmas cheer, the carols and a mug of mulled wine, the whiff of gingerbreads emerging from the oven and a present or two with your name underlined. Even if you're "too old" to believe in Santa (although, what is there to believe - he lives in Rovaniemi, therefore he's real!), this time of the year feels very precious ❣
