📍 Cachoeira do Encontro

Mumbly peg is a game I've seen boys and sometimes men play during my lifetime. I was always too afraid to play it myself.
The game is played with various rules depending on whose doing the playing.
The general gist of the game is: a circle is drawn in the dirt; the players take turns flipping an open pocket knife off their arm or balled up fist to make it land in the circle.
I've seen it played where you start with the knife on one knuckle and as you flip the knife and get it to stick you move to the next knuckle. The Foxfire 6 Book shares a version of the game where you keep moving the knife up, starting on your fingertips then moving to your elbows, shoulders, and eventually your head! The angle of the stuck knife dictated how many points you were awarded for getting the knife to stick in the circle.

Thankful such opportunities for outdoor recreation are just down the road. It's important that we do the things that feed our souls, and nourish our spirits.
Self care is physical, spiritual, and mental. It allows you to have the energy we need to carry on the work you do.
Not everything I do is on social media, I'm not fishing for applause or accolades.
In truth it's often the things I do quietly or in private that give me the most satisfaction.
Authenticity rocks. 💜
“It’s a Gnar Alert today in N New England. In my opinion, Gnar Alerts are totally subjective - I facetiously imagine skiers going to the mountains with urgency to get freshies just like a firetruck goes to a blaze with its siren wailing. This February, I completed an AIARE I course in New Hampshire instructed by John Kascenska. I now understand, you only can manage the risks from being in avalanche terrain and that taking the course doesn’t completely eliminate the risks posed in avalanche zones through osmosis. I live in the east coast & the vast majority of skiable terrain is not in avalanche territory (with the exception of select above tree line mountains such as the Presidential Range). I chose to take the avy course, bc I frequent Mt. Washington & I wanted to be educated about the risks & dangers of avalanches. The course was approximately 24 hours of class & field instruction over three days focused on training students to use beacons, avalanche rescue and snowpack tests to ascertain the likelihood of an avalanche. My takeaway from the course is that you’re doing yourself a disservice if you rush to a trailhead to ski freshies without first organizing a plan, reviewing local avalanche advisories, conducting snowpack tests & touring with other people who are trained to use beacons and have some training in avalanche rescue. My main objective with touring is to have fun and try to be safe. “
AIARE 1 aka Avalanche 101 is a three-day / 24-hour introduction to avalanche hazard management.

The Inca Trail is the most famous trek in South America and is rated by many to be in the top 5 treks in the world. In just 26 miles (43km) it manages to combine beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest, subtropical jungle and, of course, a stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels. The final destination of the trail just cannot be beaten: Machu Picchu, the mysterious "Lost City of the Incas". Is this neat trail on your hiking list?

Another drone shoot. This time it's a sunset and a lot more cloudy. Was impressed by how good the performance is on these batteries as it was cold as hell. Pro tip: set the app that it displays the battery voltage of your drone. If the voltage gets close to the limit of your drone minimum land it fast, as it can lose power. The batteries really don't function well in the cold. So keep that in mind. (For example Dji mavic 2 can't operate under 3.7V)
What’s the reason of a big wish to go in the mountains?
I mean with huge heavy backpacks, passing steep kilometers hurting your toes and knees. Instead of just taking a lift, have a coffee up there and go back.. From my perspective, everything needs a recharge from the other point of view. When you get tired from the city, then you go in the mountains for a week with limited food, no connection to people you love and comfortable zone where you dive in every single day. You are cold and tired. Your phone which you keep in your hands 12 hours a day now is dead. You fall asleep alone , wake up alone. You have your life there down, but right now with no access even to say hi to anyone.
In the forest , there is nothing but nature and you. Your only self which you have to deal with. All the things you fear and you love start to appear. Welcome inside.
First days I think and think.. and dream and analyze my whole life. Plan my projects. I try to be busy as we all do. But on 3rd day the mind shuts up and the unity appears. You don’t think anymore , you don’t wonder. You are the only one together with the nature rhythms walking in space. Infinite gratitude dives you into another world of love. Quiet , but huge and unconditional.
And than, you come back in the city silent , take a cup of coffee outside saying thank you to the power of creation, reborn to live again. From the other perspective 🌏💫
