I’ve been reflecting on the words of John Muir in the last week. “When we try to pick out anything by itself we find it hitched to everything else in the universe”. I do believe we and the planet are all connected and as one. It’s why we feel pain for George Floyd. It’s why we feel pain when another species becomes extinct. We are one race: The human race. Black lives matter.

Last weekend hike & bivy in the Bauge Mountains. This Pre-Alpine mountain range is quite close from home and has a great hike/trek potential! Starting from the bottom of La Sambuy-Seythenex ski-resort, we went up to the Col de la Sambuy to enjoy a superb sunset and pitch the tent. Sunday morning, we went up to the Pointe de la Sambuy just 200m above our camp site. There the panorama is really nice on the Baujus peaks, the Annecy lake, the Dents de Lanfon and La Tournette (still really beautiful from this angle!), the Bornes and Aravis massifs, and to the East the Dent de Cons, the Charvin (the Mont Blanc was hiding that morning). Chamois and marmots were all around.
A very nice and accessible hike that offers a memorable panorama of the region!

The new sleeping bags and tents from Marmot have now arrived in the shop. Get ready for your next outdoor adventure!🏕🏔
A chilly evening at Minaret Bay, Lake Wanaka, but quiet and calm. Something about this particular image makes it hard to determine whether the stream is flowing in or out of the lake. Both shots taken before and after this one don't seem to have the same puzzling effect. I've always admired photographers that emote a message through their images. Being trained as a news/sports photographer, that wasn't really instilled in my storytelling. We took the opportunity over the long weekend to do some exploring in the more remote reaches of Lake Wanaka #purenewzealand#newzealand#wanaka#lovewanaka#mountainspirit#meditatio#retreat#rs#experientialeducation

When I stay at home these days, I start realizing how valuable those past road trips were. Now I desperately wanna travel somewhere - just with you guys together, to watch every sunrise and sunset for days in a row.
We left to see two refuges, we found ourselves enveloped by the fog that did not give visibility beyond a few meters, programmed exit with @kdallasteppa, we never met, a Sunday different from what I expected, thanks to @visualmadda for the tutorial for these slides.
I had some tough times growing up, and I learned, by trial, error, and plenty of fire, to grab a hold of life and carve my own path. A part of that journey was—and still is—practicing how to feel at home no matter where I am. I wish we were on the road, but I’m also happy here in Idaho. Instead of discovering new places I’m exploring our mountain-filled backyard, and finding joy in the small moments, like a hummingbird at my feeder or a laugh so deep with friends that I can’t catch my breath. There are always things that could be better. But there are so many ways to be happy right here, right now.
