This is the first summer since we met 14 years ago that my husband isn't traveling nonstop on tour with the band and/or to work music festivals. # ad It's also the first summer that I'm not attending them myself. (Fun fact: We met at a concert he was working. Music lovers for life!) And while it's different than what we're used to, we are making the best of it. We continue to enjoy and celebrate music at home in our own way, including sipping our favorite Frontera wines on our patio, jamming out to Frontera's curated wined-themed Spotify playlists! (So good you guys!) Frontera wine is our go-to for delicious flavor and value, and it's been so much fun to listen to their special Spotify playlists, which were created to pair with specific wines. I've been especially enjoying listening to the Frontera Fresh Whites playlist while sipping on some crisp chilled @fronterawines Chardonnay, and Robbie and I have both been rocking out to Frontera Big and Bold Red (some of our favorite bands on this one!) while enjoying rich, bold Frontera After Midnight. We have even been Facetiming and Zooming with friends while they do the same. Music, friends, and Frontera wines are our summertime fun combo - even right here in our own backyard.
Order Frontera wine via Drizly and recreate Frontera's summer cocktails via Augmented Reality on DrinkAR or jam out to Frontera's curated wine/spirit playlists on Spotify. #HitPlayWithFrontera#FronteraAtHome#FronteraWines#StayHome#FronteraMusicStage
It’s pretty crazy what some styling can do! I was torn on whether or not I wanted to paint my new coffee table black but now I think I’ll keep it this way (at least for now 😉)! Thanks to everyone that voted yesterday!
If you’re looking for a baby friendly coffee table with storage to hide all those toys, I highly recommend this one! And you can’t beat the price! Message me if you want the Amazon link 💗(not sponsored 😆)
Designing & renovating a home for my parents these past few months has been so special. The master suite at #whitecapecottage is shaping up to be better than we ever imagined, and my parents are so excited to move! The exterior is secured and the new dormers aren’t leaking (🎉) so it’s time to get to the fun stuff on the inside. These last 4 weeks of the @oneroomchallenge are going to be intense, but it’s going to be so worth it.
Head to the blog for our week 4 update, including more dormer photos, a peek at the bed we chose, Inspo photos, and our tile plan for the bathroom. Linked in bio!
And don’t forget to check out the other featured designers’ progress, too!
I love the #morning . My alarm is set for 515, and by 530a I sit to enjoy an hour and a half of quiet time before the mini-troops storm my castle.
I light a candle. I play "The Piano Guys" station on Pandora. I open the sunroom door for fresh air.
Oh and my favorite part? I drink about 12 thousand cups of coffee. Actually 2-3 but who's counting.
Fresh ground whole bean organic Honduran coffee from @gobena_coffee. It's so smooth I actually drink it black.
Ok, all my coffee peeps. What's your FAVORITE kind of coffee??!

With one member of the household back to work "like normal", I'm surprised how quickly we've gotten into old routines. What routines are you hoping to keep when everyone is back to work and school is in session?
My #WFH set up ☕️👩💻💥 Always on brand 😝😝😝
Ps. I had to tidy up for the photo, this will never look this neat 🙄

Using flowers as an accessory can change or lift the aesthetic of any room instantly. This seemingly masculine office is now fit for a queen...and it’s time to get to work! And thank you for all the wonderful messages about my floral arrangement ziplock bag trick. At the time I really thought this quarantine life was getting to me. And maybe it is! In case you missed it, I use ziplock bags filled half way with water and tie it at the top with a rubber band. Then I can sneak them into the skinny tops of my ginger jars✨

Hi guys hope all is well and that you had a great Memorial Day weekend! So excited to share a shop I’ve been swooning over for so long, @the.accidental.farmgirl If you love wreaths and all things farmhouse than you will be obsessing over her creations as much as I am. She makes the most beautiful wreaths that add the perfect pop of green and fresh feels to any space. And I recently snagged this beige dahlia, rose and eucalyptus beauty for our front door and I’m absolutely in love. It adds the perfect pop to this 200 year old beauty! Click the link in my bio for more🌿🙌🏻
What’s your favorite flower? People ask me this all the time! I have so many different answers. There are workhorses that make us lots of money, pretty pretties that I just can’t resist, and the flavor of the week. This new-to-me flower, saponaria/soapwort, is definitely the flavor of the week. Have you ever seen anything so wonderfully light and airy? This massive bunch barely weighed a thing.
Soapwort has an amazing power! It contains saponins, which foam and emulsify, dissolving fats into water. I have long been fascinated by soap, and with coronavirus, I know we’re all becoming experts. But basically, here’s how it works: Some substances are water-mixing (hydrophilic) and some are water-repelling (hydrophobic). Splenda is hydrophilic. Oil, which floats on water, is hydrophobic. Hydrophilic substances are attracted to water molecules, so if you jump in a river, you’ll feel a little bit clean. The fresh water will remove the water-loving particles. Hydrophobic materials, like lipstick, grease, oils from your body and hair, don’t come off so easily. They shed water. It’s a conundrum. Enter soap! Saponins can bond with water AND oil. They have a special shape, sort of like a key.
Different soapy substance have different abilities. When I very rarely wear makeup, I wipe it off with lotion first because it bonds really well to the oils in the makeup, and then I wash off the dirty lotion with soap. So different materials are emulsifying agents to different degrees.
Soapwort, the flower in the picture, is a fairly weak emulsifier. It works well but doesn’t hold its structure for very long. I tried some just now, and it was fairly underwhelming. Still, when you consider the incredibly complex process of soap making, which in the old days involved fire and animal fat, any fast, readily available saponifier is a very good thing!
We won’t be dissolving our flowers in water to wash our hands. We’ll be enjoying them as the fairy floaters they are and working them into our bouquets and arrangements this week. Order at flowersnc.com/delivery
Can you imagine that this kitchen has been busy day and night these past few days? Still looking good 👌🏼 (via @caseymason_)

Beautiful textiles and high-quality craftsmanship will always have a special place in our hearts - and now, in our online shop, too! We are so excited to launch a new collection of handcrafted pillows on Charbonneau Studio, made from some of our favorite textiles by local artisans in our Houston workroom. Limited quantities available, more looks in our stories, and linked in bio to shop🌿
The two things that SOLD me on this place: the bay windows & the exposed brick 🧱.
The second I saw both of those walking through the doors for the first time I knew we had to jump on this place.
And we did, I stayed up until midnight sending loads of paperwork and waited over a week on pins and needles.
Finally, she called to say the landlord wanted to meet and sign papers.

🎵Six Feet Apart......
When the dogwoods start to bloom
And the crickets hum their tune
That's usually about the time
That I feel most alive
But the news has all been bad
And the whole world seems so sad
I ain't had much else going on
So I sat down and wrote this song
I miss my mom, I miss my dad
I miss the road, I miss my band
Givin' hugs and shakin' hands
It's a mystery, I suppose
Just how long this thing goes
But there'll be crowds and there'll be shows
And there will be light after dark
Someday when we aren't six feet apart
First thing that I'm gonna do
Is slide on in some corner booth
And take the whole damn family out
And buy my buddies all a round
Pay some extra on the tab
Catch a movie, catch a cab
Watch a ballgame from the stands
Probably over-wash my hands.......
I miss my mom, I miss my dad........
....this song is so heart felt and we can probably all relate! 💙

Throwback Thursday 😁
March 10, 2020, before the quarantine, and the world went a little crazy!
Thunderstorm Bertha hit yesterday, only we didn’t hear much thunder. It rained a little, and the skies were gray. But, Bertha was not nearly as rude as people made her out to be!
Our Sheetrock has been completed and our cabinets are scheduled to be delivered on June 3! The farther along the building process gets, the more excited I get. It’s been more than 10 years since we’ve owned our own home. I haven’t minded renting, but there’s something about owning a home that feels like roots. I’ve been longing for roots and I didn’t even know it!!
Haven is starting her first “real job” today. She’s over the moon excited and it’s so much fun to see her so very happy!! She’ll be working as a companion at a retirement community. This was what she started her nursing education for in the first place. She has a real heart for the elderly, and the perfect qualities to serve them. —
What’s new in your world?
Do you have something you’re smiling about that you’d like to share? .
Gooood morning!!! ☀️ I can’t believe it’s almost the weekend again!! 🙌🏼 I’m totally okay with time going fast (sometimes) and giving us shorter weeks!
I don’t have much for today soooo I’ll leave you with a kitchen view and my favorite @kennychesney song... 🎶 Get along, on down the road
We've got a long long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain't perfect but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can't we all get along 🎵🎶

The house is full, the fridge is packed and our hearts are bursting! 💛💛💛
These last few months have been heavy, and it feels like we never needed our mom more than we need her here right now.
So what's on the schedule for this week?
-Dinner tonight at Shan's. She's making Stovetop Burgers with Caramelized Balsamic Glazed Onions and Spicy Ketchup.
-Tomorrow, we planned a Happy Hour at Jenna's, poolside of course (but weather permitting 🤞🏻)! We'll be serving up Restaurant Style Queso, Swedish Meatballs, Charcuterie and Cheese and @joannagaines Deviled Eggs. We also convinced our mom to make her famous macaroni salad which we haven’t had in forever!
-Saturday, we're all headed out to one of mom's favorite spots for dinner and drinks (because no one said you have to cook every night to be a thoughtful hostess).
-Sunday, we're celebrating Jenna's birthday by the pool. And if you've known Jenna for a while, you know she tends to celebrate her birthday ALL Summer long, so this may be one of many...
-And everywhere in between all those meals and poolside hangs there will be plenty of laughs, lots of snuggles, multiple shopping trips and stories of the past to be shared. ✨
We hope you'll join us for all the fun and get to know some of the women who have shaped us into who we are today and have supported us through every up and every down along the way! 💛 #TheBusyLifestyle#HostfulatHeart
Have you guys seen the garage door sized hole in our master bedroom 😳😂? We’re renovating it for the #oneroomchallenge 🤦🏼♀️ yup I’m insane(just click the link in my profile to see it) More importantly though, thank you guys so much for all the positive vibes about the new wallpaper...you’re the freaking best! ❤️ If you haven’t seen the wallpaper installed in our mudroom, the reveal is linked in my profile too. It’s finally sunny here today 🌞 how’s the weather where you are? #thelesliestylelakehouse .

It’s rare these days to have a clean kitchen for any real length of time, am I right or am I right! Gotta document it while you can!
One way we’ve minimized mess and clean up time is by using our new @mychefiq, as it requires no measuring cups with its built in scale, everything cooks in one spot and it’s not on the stovetop which for me is impossible to keep clean!
Head to my stories for a discount! This thing is coming in REAL handy!
Here’s a view of my barn studio from last summer. I have since sold the iron bed here but I have another vintage iron bed in chippy white that I am cleaning up now. I think it will be perfect in this space. Getting lots and lots of little projects done finally. What projects are you working on? .

As the evening came to an end, we took a ride with the 4x4 to check the tunnels and survey the property.
Mary dismantled this bunch of poppies as Albert and I talked about goals and ways to improve the land and operations. There is so much need that it is hard to prioritize what will be next with our resources.
The farm is our livelihood and funds itself so it is critical to make well thought out decisions. Oftentimes, Albert is speaking Mandarin and myself Polish but we do end up in agreement by the end.
Before Mary got ahold of this bunch, I snapped a picture with Albert holding it — the most delicate flower of all, the Icelandic poppy. A funny, hairy pod that explodes into a palm size silky bloom. Find this fleeting treasure tucked into this week’s mason jars.
